I spent a night in Ghent and traipsed around during the next day. Lovely place, a bigger version of Brugge. Stayed in a historic hotel that I think was a hostel for visiting Nuns in the past.
Planning a full weekend back to the city later this year.

Also met some Boda (Norwegian) fans after the Derby game and it looks like a trip is on to get to one of their games. I fancy a train journey through Norway or across from Sweden.

My family have a new type of holiday planned, Zagreb to Lake Bled and back by Flexibus. Sort of Race Across the World fashion. I have done the route but by taxi.

Was the soap worn in the hostel?

Sounds great, 2 nice countries. Have not done Lake Bled yet but planning to. Have done the capital Ljubljana, and Piran couple of times, both excellent.

Lake Bled is lovely. The Julian Alps are in the backdrop and a trip up to the WW1 battlegrounds is worth it.
My Mam and Dad stayed at the Hotel Toplise just before the Independence War and loved it. I took my wife there in around 1994 and was surprised how different it was to Croatia. We had been in Dubrovnik the year before and it was still shot up.

I would also recommend anyone who has a bad back to stay at the Hotel Cadez in Terme Cadez near to the Slovenia / Croatia border for a week. The mixture of treatments and exercises sorted mine out. The Thermal Riviera is a huge water park that is fantastic and the hotels are a part of it. We lived like royalty for a week there.

Sounds like a happy ending….

How very broad minded.
I didn’t even know you were allowed to visit nuns!

Going to Gibraltar for a short break in a couple of weeks .
Mon-Fri .

I don’t mind cooler weather , but even I’m sick of the rain we’ve had .

Current forecast for when we’re out there is sunshine / cloudy / showers .
So a right mixed bag .

Anyone been before ?

Went on a day trip once, I'm not really into military stuff so it wasn't really my bag. There's probably more to it than bunkers and monkeys though
