Was just looking on Wiki at our transfer business and had to double take - did I miss something or did we really sell Jones to Boro for 3m? I checked and it does look like that was reported at the time, but that feels much higher than I thought it was? Close to 5m for Jones and Alzate was actually quite good business in the summer.

Him and Brown were both rated highly in the under-21s. Both played a lot in pre-season and looked decent too.

Our academy has taken a different approach ever since Dawson was promoted to the first team and Conor Sellars took over the under-21s. Less focus on local lads in Hull and East Riding and more poaching kids released from other academies or signing them from non-league and Irish teams.

I think it will be a while before we see another Lewis-Potter or Greaves. McCarthy’s the only one who has broken through to the first team recently and he came from an Irish team.
he wasn't a local lad

Shame about Myers. Saw him a few times and thought he was better prospect than Brown.

I guess the likes of Parker have only been on the bench because we need someone "homegrown", and not because he's a consideration to actually play

Unlikely, as he came to us last year from Irish League.
"A Homegrown Player is defined as someone who has spent at least three complete seasons (or 36 months) registered with a club affiliated to the FA or Welsh FA before the end of the season in which they turn 21."
I think it was simply because we were down to bare bones at the time.

Homegrown wasn't the right word. We have to name one "Club developed player", which is "a player that has been registered with the club for a minimum of 12 months prior to the end of his under 19 season". If we don't we can only name 8 on the bench instead of 9.

I'm guessing he still doesn't fit that though

Would that not be McCarthy?

As first revealed by Hull Live, Abu Kamara is also back at the club, receiving treatment for an ankle injury sustained during his loan move to Getafe in Spain. Kamara could also yet feature in the remaining weeks of the season, should he recover and an agreement be struck with the La Liga outfit.

From the below article.

That's an absolute nothing article. The stuff about Akintola isn't new information at all and the stuff about Kamara I don't think can even be true. There is surely no way he can play for us this season when we didn't recall him from his loan during the transfer window. He is with us for treatment but he is a Getafe player until the summer just as Gelhardt is a Hull City player until the summer.

As far as I know, players can’t be recalled from loan outside of transfer windows.

Oscar Zambrano..... anyone know if he's had an injury... Maribor have just come back from winter break (second in the league) and he's not been in the match day squad for the first 3 matches... seri has been playing and Furlong made the bench...

This might be unpopular but I’d take Allahyar back on a free transfer in the summer if we don’t go up. I watch Westerlo games occasionally and his technical ability and end product has come on massively and he’s still a monster athlete. In their last game, he scored a pen but in the second half he absolutely bodied someone shoulder-to-shoulder, dribbled up the pitch, cut it back and assisted the winner.

I rate a lot of Westerlo’s players. Big fan of their young Turkish centre-back Bayram and their right-back Reynolds (who we’ve been linked to more than once). Haspolat’s good too.
