I think we need to give up on taking punts on foreign strikers. We need to look at up and coming strikers in the lower leagues who could do the job. I see several in Div 1 who good do a really good job. They seem to score lots of goals..
Lights litmus paper and bed time for me
I mentioned the Plymouth guy a few weeks ago. Tolaj. Maybe he has played too many games to be called an undiscovered gem.

I watched the video and wished I hadn't. True, a couple of the goals were ones Armstrong would have fluffed, but otherwise we seem to be hoping that Championship goalkeepers decide to don clown outfits, and that defenders decide he's crap and just leave him alone.

I'll accept that you can only beat the opposition you're playing and this guy might step up when playing in the Championship. But like others I'd have preferred some bugger who rattles in goals in League One.

Heigh ho. I guess we're pretty safe from relegation now, and a decent run could see us edge the play offs but please. Let's not go back to the Premiership without a proven striker at least.

This season he has played 402 mins and scored one goal.

Only started 3 matches.
Very small sample size to go on this season, and apparently Feyenoord played him mostly as a winger.

Last season in La Liga, he scored 7 goals in roughly 1,800 minutes (about 20 full games). That's not too shoddy.

Pelle was a big lump that came from Feyenoord. He was no spring chicken when he signed for us, and I`d never heard of him either. I hope the similarities don`t end there!

He did score nearly a goal per game for them though.

I will reserve judgement until he has played. Everyone remembers the crap players and SR rightly get slammed for it but rarely get credit for the gems like Lavia, scienza etc.

Yeah, I'm very much of the opinion we should see if he's any use whilst playing for us. He's got a better goals to games ratio than Adarma, and nearly equivalent to Lambert. So it's a case of lies and statistics.

I'm not doubting you for a second, mate; fully expecting him to be gash. But there must be something about him. He has a good record in Turkey, and for Valladolid. Is it Mallorca's playing style etc? Tall Paul looked sh*t for Saints, but no doubt he would look decent enough for most Championship teams.

What's the rest of his game like; holding the ball up, passing etc? There must be a reason quite a few teams are after him? Or maybe he just uses the same agent as THB?
He's like Che Adams without the hold up play. Having said that Mallorca don't really play like that, Muriqi, the other, good striker , is big too. So maybe he could do it if we have another forward to run on to stuff. He's very slow too.
I, obviously, hope he's changed, or maybe the championship will suit him. I was very surprised by the 7 goals last season stat, even though that's pretty **** for a striker anyway. Then i remembered he scored 4 in a bunch, over as many games, a couple in one game i think. We thought he'd finally turned as corner, but the rest of the season was the same as the season before. Proper Adamsesque missing open goals, falling over himself, etc . He's a 3/4 goals a season striker. Perfect SR signing.

Th problem is that SR have broken me. I just cannot see anyone they sign as a forward being any good.

If SR pulled it out of the bag and signed Mbappe, he would end up being crap for us.

I hope i'm wrong but there must be a reason why he's not been starting regularly over recent seasons as he's not been injured i'd guess by the number of games he's been involved in.
However i'll give him a chance until i've seen him play a number of games for us, maybe he'll be a good option off of the bench if Ross is struggling.

This has got Damian Downs vibes all over it for me. Like others, I really hope I'm wrong though.
