Trust no one.

Trust no one.
Indeed.I like experts. If my gas boiler goes on the blink I get an expert to fix it.
Who’s the Lord ? The only one I had faith in was Jon Lord and he’s long gone unfortunately.Blair "I don't know who to trust".

You can't lump all "experts" together. Expert witnesses in jury trials have proved to attract a dogmatic type, and have been responsible for a few high profile miscarriages of justice. On the other hand I trust Martin Lewis and Paul Johnson who both have proven track records. I'd rather trust the climatologists who have extensive knowledge of it than those who know nothing about it but will still tell you it's rubbish because there was a mini ice age in Victorian times.Indeed.
Slight difference though.
I’m talking about ‘experts’ who are trying to predict the future of the Earth (and often get things wrong) not someone who’s been on a training course to fix a Vaillant !
I agree, hence my surprise at your linking ‘experts’ in climate change, who often get things wrong with no comeback, to a qualified gas engineer who has extensive training and who risks his livelihood if he gets things wrong while fixing your boiler !You can't lump all "experts" together. The real madness is that other major countries aren't following our example. If you look at the predictions over the 40 years since it became public knowledge you find that the climatologists have got it mostly right. As I said it's a slow burner, but it's inexorable. We'll all be dead and gone when the sh1t really hits the fan. What happens then is too awful to contemplate, which is why we don't, if we can help it. The Mr Micawber philosophy that "something will turn up " is the triumph of hope over reality I fear.I agree, hence my surprise at your linking ‘experts’ in climate change, who often get things wrong with no comeback, to a qualified gas engineer who has extensive training and who risks his livelihood if he gets things wrong while fixing your boiler !
I wasn’t lumping them together, as I haven’t come across a gas engineer yet who makes predictions about what will happen to my boiler in 100 years time.
There simply are no ‘experts’ when it comes to the effects of climate change in 100 years time. Too much can change in that time to make any predictions meaningful, which is again why I object to being forced to use inferior products and systems based on those predictions.
The drive to ‘net zero’ in this country is utter madness and makes no sense whatsoever.

How is all this electric generated ?Fair points, net zero for me is all about being on the right side of history. Future generations are f*cked, no doubt about it. I've got an electric car and the software is sh1t. It decided that "charging is impossible" on the way to Cornwall last year. The breakdown service engineer fixed it more by luck that judgement. I don't trust it at all.
I’ll make a climate change sceptic of you yet…….Fair points, net zero for me is all about being on the right side of history. Future generations are f*cked, no doubt about it. Renewables are the only way forward , unfortunately the profiteering power suppliers of today don’t want this to happen - it all boils down to greedWE're with Octopus, it's all from renewables. In the summer it comes from our solar panels.
As an aside, I see the state-owned energy company EDF (owned by the FRench state) plans to build its next nuclear plant on the fast eroding Suffolk coast, partly on a coastal marsh. Their cost estimates don't include budgeting for seawall protection. For the full mad details of this scheme you can buy Private Eye. The investigative journalism in PE is streets ahead of any other pulication.
Feel free. I hope you succeed, but don't hold out much hope.
You want to read Michael Mann. He gives you chapter and verse about how the fossil fuel companies work. They employed a few of the same characters who were employed by the tobacco companies to tell you that smoking is good.Renewables are the only way forward , unfortunately the profiteering power suppliers of today don’t want this to happen - it all boils down to greed![]()

I was going to mention the tobacco and alcohol industries as well - strangely enough both really bad for us but the governments , be it Tories or Labour , both gain from them plus individual MP’s fingers are well and truly stuck in the proverbial piesYou want to read Michael Mann. Shock horror!
We're having a fairly normal January.
Looks like there will be no upcoming announcements that it will be the (insert word here)-est January for 200 years.
It's cold, damp, cloudy and generally grim. With the odd bit of sunshine occasionally.
Could this herald a non-record breaking year for British weather?![]()

There will always be a wettest, coldest, warmest, windiest, driest, cloudiest, sunniest, record breaker, in one location, town, village, area, country, region or anotherLooks like I was wrong about January
Wettest on record for 150 years in some parts of the Country. Another RECORD BREAKER...
