Great debate, robust without getting personal.

My four penneth is that I can't remember Nigel getting much wrong in the past, so I will trust his judgement although I can't claim to understand the decision. I would have taken Guly off for sure, but was it wise to introduce a new player unnecessarily into that cauldron for the last 10 minutes?

I thought the time to change was with about 30 minutes to go, rather than just 10. I did think it was a bit odd taking Fox off, especially as, Rickie aside, he has the best set-piece delivery in the team, and had the assist for the goal. I think, as others have said, the best thing would have been to take Guly off for De Ridder, or alternatively bring Harding on for Guly, move Fox forward, and put Lallana on the right.

But I'm not having to make decisions with 15,000 or so skates screaming abuse at me!

I wasn't at the game but my pompey friend said fox was sick on the side of the pitch yesterday twice in the second half, i'm thinking this is why he came off as there was no other reason to change it

If you mean the corner from which they scored, Harding was at the opposite goal post. Guly was the one who didn't defend his side of the goal.

Harding didn't do anything wrong when came on, but I couldn't see any reason why Fox was taken off.

in the squad, id say harding, butterfield and richardson at the very least have better deliveries than fox.

    <ok>

nigel was hinting that he didnt defend properly in the post match interview but he didnt mention names and then afterwards stressed that "as a team" they didnt defend properly when they all know it was guly's fault.

Maybe Richardson and Butterfield are up there with Fox on deliveries but certainly not Harding.

Richardson definitely has better deliveries, his have been outstanding. As for Harding, I think he's great going forward and suits our style better than Fox. The main thing is that he's much better at the passing game and doesn't give it away as often as Fox does.

Agreed, once again. A professional footballer should be doing better than that, imo.

Who is to say that Adkins isn't asking him to play it long? If he's doing it on a regular basis, this suggests to me that Adkins isn't telling him to do the opposite. Hooiveld is also doing it a lot at the moment, whilst Fonte had a spell of doing it about a month ago. None of us know what Adkins is telling them to do.

Sorry Jen, but not in a million years. Chilco was referring to set-piece delivery, and Fox has the best at this club by some distance.

I've witnessed Fox misplace far more long balls than anyone else, mainly because he tries more long balls than anyone else. I seriously hope Adkins hasn't instructed him to do this, because it's not working at all. We should be playing it out from the back like any good team.

I still think Fox is far superior to Harding.
Fox has the composure on the ball and the set piece delivery.
The ball stays in play a whole lot more when Fox plays.
Harding brings panic to the ranks and hacks the ball anywhere.
Harding plays with full blooded desire and thats great, but that will only get you so far.

can't believe so many say that Frazer's delivery is brilliant. His strike rate of % good crosses into box is poor for a championship player. He is having a great season and I highly rate him. When he gets into the box at the goal line he always pulls it back to a saints player, but when he crosses from wide and deep, too many crosses hit the first defender and too many clear our last player at the far post. I suggest someone re-watches the game and ticks off how many of his crosses were good, because a lot were wasted. I'm not having a pop at him as he is doing great, but I am suggesting those fans saying his cossing is great don't understand what a good cross is.

Rickie, Fox and Butterfield have the best delivery in the team.

I also can't understand all the moaning - we are doing great; not playing as we were 2 months back, but still are doing fab.

    I'm having a great time!

Sorry I have to disagree with your criticism of Dan Harding, Fox has a bit more class, but Harding knows his own limitations and doesn't try to be too clever, he works much better with Lalana and seems to be getting a good rapport with Hoover, it is a squad game and there are games where Fox would suit better, but not all games, the Bristol City game was made for Hardings style but sadly didn't get his chance.

No mate it was Pompeys fault that we didn't win, they scored an equaliser, lets put the blame fairly and squarely where it lays.
