I saw that too, he didn't look impressed about being subbed and can't blame him really as he was playing reasonably well and is instrumental in delivering set pieces
Guly should have been hauled off not Foxy!

I would have started with Harding but thats not the point SFCbwSFC is right, Fox was playing OK but Guly was having a mare. NA should have told him at half-time that he had 10 min's to make an impact or be substituted by de Ridder....remember you can create the unexpected with attack but change a defence that has not conceded a goal at your peril!

Harding did the right thing. Should have defended the corner better.

agreed - he cant win poor harding

if he had cleared it straight into the apth of the pompey player he would have been crucified - simple footballing is the best way forward and thats what he did

I think the truth is that Guly had an off day but we had no on the bench to replace him with. Secondly apart from the assist I thought Fox was very wasteful in possession and I think that is why he was taken off. He was not happy but he is part of a squad and must go with the managers decision.

i disagree about Guly - he has had consistenly bad games recently and we had De Ridder and Holmes who could have replaced him, as well as Harding with Lallana going up top

I thought Guly was our best player against Blackpool and I think that Adkins does not believe de Ridder is good enough defensively to be thrown into the mix away from home. Holmes has played only sparingly so I cannot comment about what he is like. Hence why we need one more pacey striker like Maynard to shuffle things around when one player has a bad day. It is too easy to pick on one player.

Ok.. so adkins didn't make the right choice in hindsight.. but we dominated most of the game and we had plenty of chance to win it.. 2 or 3 nil. but we didnt' and a pompey goal was bound to happen..

Sorry got to disagree.
Composure was key in that period of the game. Fox has it Dan doesn't.
Harding also gave away other corners instead of using his weaker foot for an easier clearance.

Harsh? No chance they are professional footballers.

Coming on at that stage of a tense derby was always going to be problematic, yes an unfortunate goal to concede but most of my ire has to be directed at Guly who neither attacked the ball or defended the post (can't believe he was on it frankly). In terms of the full back debate i find Harding an honest player but he lacks the quality that Fox brings.

Fox received more abuse from the Pompey fans than any other player on the pitch. I think Adkins was concerned it was starting to affect him, so he brought him off.

It's a simple as that, no need for any conspiracy theories.

Fox may be good at set pieces and crossing, but he really irritates me in possession. We should be trying to keep the ball down and playing it out from the back, but he just hoofs it. Wouldn't blame Adkins for being annoyed about that.

Fox came off when there was no reason to change anything.

Harding came on and was pretty much and AM before sprinting back to scuff away the coroner <doh>
