I thought Guly seemed to be struggling with the atmosphere - whenever I saw a close-up of him; he looked a little like a frightened rabbit. Not making excuses for what was a poor performance; more an observation on his apparent state of mind. He did not seem to warm to the occassion Be interested what others thought...

Yeah, shooting him will help. Wouldn't surprise me if some of our fans still then criticised him for not moving off the floor....;)

I like guly and always suport him as with all the players during the match. However i'm starting to wonder whether he can be afforded especially in away games. I know hes made a massive contribution this season but it really hampered our chances of building play today as he basically couldnt hold up the ball, if connelly had played I think we would won easily. Perhaps dropping him would give him the kick up the backside he need.

That's the great thing about Guly. He's not only capable of doing that, but he's just the sort of player who would go and do that after today.

The problem for Guly is that he is not a striker; yet is being asked to play in that position. The only reason why he's starting is because DC is injured, as is Barnie. De Ridder does not seem the have what it takes to be a starter at either right winger or striker, so Guly has to play as a striker. So dropping him might be a good thing; only there is nobody else seemingly fit to play alongside Rickie.

There is always the possibility of a player who gets first pick every week will get into a sort of comfort zone, being dropped can cut both ways, the player can always think, I have been dropped for a reason therefore I must try harder, or the attitude that I have been dropped and don't want to play for you, it is down to the individual about which way to turn, you don't hear Dan Harding bitching because Fox is getting the nod, he tries his best when he does get on.

Yh I think the nature of a winger means that they will give the ball away every now and again however if a striker fails to hold up play it disrupts the whole team. Didnt he come here as an advanced centre mid I thought? I guess he hasnt done bad not playing in his best posistion!

The problem today was that he is not a defender either! How do solve a problem like Do Prado, How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?
How do you find a word that means Guly? A flibbertijibbet! A will-o'-the wisp! A clown! Many a thing you know you'd like to tell him
Many a thing he ought to understand, But how do you make him play, And listen to all you say, how do you keep his game as it is planned, Oh, how do you solve a problem like Do Prado? Tell the silly numbnut that really he is grand. (with apologies to Guly Andrews)

Incredible. A month or so ago this board was full of you all drooling over Guly's skill, committment, flair (add the hype you want). Now he should be shot.

If I were him, or any other pro player on Saints' books targeted by this rubbish, I would move heaven and earth to sign for another team. What humbug!

Guly has been superb for us this season. Fortunately most supporters in this thread apart from the OP are backing him. He never got into the game today but I am certain that we will be an important player for us for the rest of the season. Evolution, if you don't like it then may I suggest you go and support Man City, they seem to be winning a lot lately.

That was one person who said that, most other people have been saying that hes a very good player who didnt play well today and people sympathising that hes not playing in his natural posistion. I think uve over reacted abit.
