So Williams...does the club have support services for players with "difficulties"? Sunderland, I believe, did try to work with Connolly. Just remembered that we had Brian Lenihan, who it was finally revealed after he retired so early in his career, had very serious issues, but Slutzsky apparently dismissed him and his concerns.

What serious issues? That’s vague as ****

Connolly didn’t have a choice as it was court enforced. Naughty boy off the pitch. Made for a good feel-good story though

Wanting or attempting to take your own life isn't serious? Have a rethink of that comment. Really poor. He retired over it.
Don’t be a ****….you can change , you can grow!

Where the **** did I mention taking his own life??
It’s like you read something different to what is posted….

Ohhh I get it, you are are bored, need attention, so are picking a random argument.

Ok…I have 15-20 min then I’m busy….your turn…let’s go

What the **** do you think depression is you silly ****?

Lenihan´s very serious mental issues only came to light AFTER he retired and if I am not mistaken, it was he himself that went public with his difficulties at that juncture and I believe he said directly or indirectly that Slutz had not helped him in any way. The club said nothing about the player´s mental state during his employment. Now, moving to current times, Brandon Williams, according to AI, had:

Mental‑health struggles after leaving Manchester United

  • After being released by Manchester United, he was in a poor mental state, struggling even to get out of bed.
  • He described being taken advantage of by people around him and feeling lost after leaving his boyhood club.
These two issues combined — a criminal conviction and a period of instability — made him a high‑risk signing for many clubs.

So, my question remains: other than telling the manager of your concerns, what structures does the club have in-situ to deal with players having "non-physical" difficulties?

Well it’s not MND or cancer is it… It can be treated….
Your turn….5 min left….
Yes it can be treated, which is why he retired.

Btw cancer can also be treated.. Players have had cancer treated and carried on playing.

Saying depressed people should just change is moronic.

My wife is a consultant radiologist…she spends her entire life treating stage 5 cancers…
But the next time she is struggling on the pathway …I will get her to DM you on the treatment plan

Wtf you on about? Go to bed.

Have a read on Brooks at Bournemouth's last few years. Might be illuminating for you.

On the morning of December 15, 2017, Brian Lenihan, the Hull City defender, drove to his local chapel to say a prayer, then returned to his car and consumed what he hoped would be enough tablets to end his own life. What led the 23-year-old Irishman to that tragic juncture -- a scene harrowing and heart breaking in equal measure -- is not straightforward, but depression never is.

Weirdly it was on my birthday, I suffer from depression and is most definitely not straightforward…
