BBM intimated that Etete is nearing a return for Rotherham. Hope it goes well for him. Dont see him playing for us again though.

Reindorff not getting any game time at Newport. I wonder if he'll get recalled and shipped out somewhere else.

Hopefully we'll get a bit more to comment on here if the planned loans for Luey, Dak and Tan get sorted in January.

Hasn't he had one or two? Not major bones though.

Not sure of "breaks" Bluey, I think it's more muscle and ligament underdevelopment that hasn't kept pace with his skeletal bone growth.

In other words he's a lanky bastard lacking in robustness through a lack of soft tissue support.

He's had hamstring and quad tears recently, and at his age now (24?), it's a hard ask to develop that soft tissue strength that should have kept pace with his 6' 6" frame.

First two players out on loan. Good luck to them both.

Young defensive duo Luey Giles and Will Spiers have both joined National League side Eastleigh on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign, subject to international clearance.

Left-back Luey made his senior debut back in April 2024, and has since featured for the Bluebirds First Team eight times, including two appearances in this season's Vertu Trophy, scoring against AFC Wimbledon in the Round of 16.

Fellow full-back Spiers also featured twice and scored once in the Vertu Trophy this term, netting in our 3-1 win over Arsenal U21's. Will also spent time on loan with Merthyr Town in the opening half of the campaign, making 10 appearances in the National League North.

The pair will now head to Eastleigh in the National League, with the Spitfires currently sitting in 14th position in the table. They will feature alongside former Bluebirds Kieron Evans, James Waite and Lloyd Humphries in Hampshire.

We'd like to wish Luey and Will the best of luck during their time away from South Wales.

An odd one with Spiers. A very short loan to Merthyr during which time he also played for us.
Hopefully both get some game time to aid their development.

Itll be interesting to see what happens with Reindorf. Stats say hes played 16 times for Newport without scoring. Not seen him an any of the recent Newport squads, though given his lack of goals I can understand why.

Dak and Tan should be the next two.

Edit: Purse being dealt a difficult hand.
A double edge sword. Reward for a good job in developing players. Punishment in losing the best of his winning side.

Chatting to a County fan at Reading services, they were going to Bromley. Asked him about Reindorf and he was quite critical of him. They haven't seen him play to his potential at all and has been dropped. Perhaps County isn't the right club for him at this time? Maybe he will be heading back to us in January ?

Reindorf back......................wonder if BBM can get a tune out of him?

I doubt it. He’s had chances at Bristol Rovers and Newport, and hasn’t been up to scratch.
Can’t see him anywhere near the first team squad which is a shame because he showed good potential.

Back to the academy, where hopefully he will improve, rather than sending him out again. Let’s face it, the Gas and the Exiles are not exactly good role models for player development, given the league positions they are in.

Perhaps we should look at the other end of the age spectrum up front? If we can afford it that is.

Looks like Callum Wilson is about to become a free agent with West Ham agreeing to terminate his contract. I know he's 33 now but that experience up front is maybe something we need to see us over the line. I liked his time at Bournemotuh where he was lethal in the box.

He's very direct and can find the net from anywhere. Wages would be an issue but he could make a difference up front amongst the youngsters for the run in.

Wages would be a huge issue<doh>

Others would be relocation and motivation.

I’d much prefer BBM scouting a young talent rather than journeymen looking for a final pension boost.

Not sure where we go with a striker.
12 goals for Salech at better than a goal every 3 games. He does seem to need a lot of chances though.
Robinson has a better 'goals per minute' than Salech, but not sure he'd lead the line.
Youd have thought that if a new striker comes in, someone has to move on.

As for Reindorf, last season I thought he'd be worth a punt, but I'm not sure he'd get the game time now.

I suppose BBM could take a couple weeks to run the rule over him before needing to make a decision.

BBM has now established how he wants the game played. I can imagine any incomings / promotions from within / returning players will need to fit the model. He used what he had when he first arived, anyone ariving will need to be a square peg for a square hole.

Does he go for someone to get us over the line or someone to grow into next season?

He obviously wants to play otherwise he'd see his contract out and just pick up his West Ham paypacket.

I accept the motivation to play with a League One club may not be there, but we need to make an effort to see this season out where we are now and play in the Championship next year.

A player like him would add the experience we might need to ensure that rather than expecting BBM to pull another young "star" out of the bag.

Could be we need a "Chambers" at the back, a "Wintle" in the middle, and a "Wilson" (or similar) up front.

Its something we spoke about when the revolution started in the summer. The spine of the team. Keeper, CB, CM and striker. Experience to anchor the youth.

In rugby its 2, 8, 9, 10, 15. Its where the control comes from.

Not sure BBM would userp Salech though.

I agree that we probably dont need more youngsters in the short term.
Especially looking ahead to next season when we'll have a few more of our own coming through.

I wonder if BBM will consider the loan market?

Taking into account his lack of activity in the first window it's difficult to see how he would like us to strengthen, even if he wants to. He seems to favour a smaller, tightly knit squad.

Maybe with the youngsters gone out on loan and possibly a couple more to follow, it frees up some of our wage bill although with Horvath and Reindorf it could be the extra cash has been swallowed up unless we can quickly offload them. Alnwick is back as well. Wonder if he was on some sort of unpaid personal leave of absence?

If Horvath wants to play for USA in the World Cup he needs to play regularly. There have been rumours of him going to the MLS.

We have been lucky at GK with Trott being relatively injury free and Turner being acceptable as back up. However if either of those were out for any length of time another keeper would be needed. Would we keep Alnwick to ensure we had 3 senior keepers and not have to rely on an untried youngster?

Then we have Rubin and maybe King to return in the next month or 2.

P.S. Just seen the post on another thread about King being out until next season. <ok>

It seems sensible that we bring in one or two of the right calibre to give the squad more strength and versatility. Loans would seem the sensible options to enable us to revisit our requirements in the summer, once we know where we will be playing next season. What positions and which players I don't know as long as they are good fits to our squad and playing style.

Much as I like how Wilson has developed in recent years and that he would certainly give us more than we have upfront I can't see him wanting to drop 2 divisions. He will be looking at Championship level at least and probably London/south coast.
