My gut says two new faces next month, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's either one or three.

I say "new" but one of them might yet be Bree, if Tonda decides he wants him back in the squad when his loan ends in two weeks.

Matsuki clearly isn't figuring, so he'd be high on my list to leave in January (most likely on loan). Aribo I'd be fine with just giving away. Nothing against Jelert, who seems a decent RB, but I'm not sure what he's like at RWB and he hasn't featured much (not all his fault), so terminating his loan (if possible) could be an easy way to create another squad space. If anyone wants to buy Fraser, I'd happily sell. And if we do manage to loan in a no.1 keeper, them hopefully we can terminate Long's loan in order to accommodate that.

From what little we've seen of him, I think Jelert looks more of an RWB than Mads does. I'd definitely be keeping him on.

All I really know between them both is that Frank often played Mads at RWB for Brentford.

The bigger point I suppose is that we purchased Mads, whereas we loaned Jelert. So if we did find ourselves desperately needing to create an extra space in the squad, Jelert - if the terms of his loan allow - would be easier to offload.

think we have an obligation to buy Jelert if we get promoted. Sure it looks very unlikely atm but might make sending him back tricky

Not sure if it's an obligation, but I think I remember an option to purchase at £7m. From what we've seen so far, I thought he looked really quite good (at least in one of the few games we've seen him). Certainly worth another look at.

I wonder if Patterson from Sunderland fancies a second half of the season loan? Would be first choice here and is firmly second choice at Sunderland

Been a lot of chatter about him coming here. Bizarrely in statistical terms, he's not a huge improvement by any means on Baz though.

Is he not? A video I saw the other day discussing this rumour suggested he was. The stats read out about his promotion season had me sitting and wondering why Sunderland replaced him so quickly

Because he isn't PL standard.

There are plenty of people who are not convinced Baz isn’t even top of championship standard. There are lots of people who say we wouldn’t have gone up if he hadn’t got injured. So on that basis he might be an upgrade. Just not on a permanent which Sunderland want

my understanding of him is that he broke into the team young and looked promising, but never really kicked on. Bit like Meslier at Leeds.

No idea if he is an upgrade on Baz, but I don’t think he’s hit the levels people were predicting he would when he first broke into the Sunderland team
