Baffling how a family that had ties to the Islamic State Group were allowed to keep gun licences - should have been revoked as soon as the links were known ... and those with the links deported to an Islamic state ... in this case, the father's country of origin...

Equally baffling that they were firing their weapons for almost 7 minutes uninterrupted, aside from a brief hiatus caused by the heroic actions of Ahmed al Ahmed.

Where the hell were the police?? This is one of Sydney's busiest and most crowded areas in the summer. What the f where they doing??

They shot the cops as well. Two coppers in a serious condition.

The guy that disarmed the older gunmen must have been shot either before he grabbed him or by the younger guy from the bridge after ?

Yeah not looked at the details of how it all unfolded. I didn't realise at first he had been shot, from the footage I saw, not that you can really tell from a distant. Maybe like you say the boy on the bridge slugged him. They had a bit of an advantage point with the bridge and wasn't it a walled bridge as well, so gave them some element of safety.

There is growing criticism about the fact that those were the only two policemen assigned to an event expected to draw a thousand people, and in a city that experiences an average of 3 anti-Semitic incidents per day.

Albanese is an absolute clown.

Where did you come about that knowledge that there was only two cops on duty?

Sadly some of the most policed events haven't stopped these type of attacks, in the UK, Germany, France, US or Australia, and I'm talking in general, not just regarding attacks on Jews.

No enforcement casualties either to my memory with the exception of this most recent one in Sydney.

America had one of the most policed events, was it New Orleans and they still never stopped an attack, in fact the guy actually drove around the blockades.

Although looks like the feds are being kept busy these last two days... https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/dec/17/new-orleans-attack-thwarted-ex-marine

Whatever you do if the nutters are determined they will generally succeed in some form, unless it;s an organised cell that can be busted before anything occurs.

I've been very reserved in criticising the cops in Australia as two of their own cops nearly paid with their lives.

Actually correction on above comment, I just remembered a cop died in what I think was the French attack, just remembered him laying on the ground after being knifed from behind.

Chris Minns, who is basically the PM of New South Wales, admitted as such.

He first said two cops were there, then revised that figure to three. Woopdeedoo.

Then said there were a further twenty "in the vicinity", which is meaningless as the "vicinity" could be anywhere within a short car drive away, which is great if someone loses a purse. Less great if you're being massacred by two fanatics with multiple weapons and loads of ammo.

Oh absolutely I'm not criticising the cops out on the beat, and especially those who put themselves in the line of fire.

I'm criticising the idiots nice and safe up in their ivory offices somewhere nowhere near the incident who made this decision in the first place and decided that a large gathering of Jews in a city that has seen a 300% increase in anti Semitic incidents in the last two years, warranted just two cops.

They placed those cops' lives in danger too, no question about it.

Kind of sums up the political situation in Australia that Anthony Albanese is considered a long lasting PM because he's managed to stay in charge for 3 years.

Just been into town, there's a farmers market on, 6 police there, 1 standing by a stall giving seasons greetings to anyone that passes, the other 5 stood in Iceland doorway, having a good old laugh and chat amongst themselves, lazy bastards
