I do find the lead up to Christmas here in NZ a bit strange, being in the summer. In Vietnam, even though hot, Xmas hardly passed noticeable as 25th/26th are normal working days. Here there are all the usual signs in shopping centres and shops as they are back home, but in warm weather. Very surreal.
My daughter lives in Dubai, Xmas stuff is everywhere. My granddaughter was taken to see Santa this morning, a very realistic “journey” followed by meeting the big man (with a very nice Scottish accent). We were with them last Christmas, our Xmas dinner was outside in 30 degree heat at an absolutely rammed plush hotel with Xmas decorations everywhere, singers singing Xmas songs, and a visit from Santa on his sleigh. Very surreal.
