For anyone going to Vienna I can recommend Haas & Haas outdoor gluhwein area behind their tea shop, next to St Stephen’s cathedral. It’s where the locals go, rather than the market stalls. Also do excellent marillen punsch (apricot punch).

We were in Vienna this time last year. Went to four quite large, different, Xmas markets, all very individual, all very easy to get to by walking or by tram and all were excellent. Bought a two day tram pass which wasn’t checked once, train ticket from airport to Vienna central cost less than £5 return for two of us. Great place to visit.
