We visited the one in Salzburg, and I suspect it's like all other Christmas markets, akin to Samuel Johnson's comment on the Giant's Causeway.
Did he say nothing is as good as what is in Hull?

As there's no evidence he ever visited...Did he say nothing is as good as what is in Hull?

He might have turned up at Whitefriargate with Charlie...As there’s no evidence he didn’t…

Might not have done, no change for the bridge toll.Might have stopped here on his way to Scotland with Boswell. Or on the way back.

Many thanks. The reason they never wrote about it will have been so overcome with the beauty of it all.
Or it was after 5 pm and everything was shut.
We were in Vienna this time last year. Went to four quite large, different, Xmas markets, all very individual, all very easy to get to by walking or by tram and all were excellent. Bought a two day tram pass which wasn’t checked once, train ticket from airport to Vienna central cost less than £5 return for two of us. Great place to visit. For anyone going to Vienna I can recommend Haas & Haas outdoor gluhwein area behind their tea shop, next to St Stephen’s cathedral. It’s where the locals go, rather than the market stalls. Also do excellent marillen punsch (apricot punch).
What month?Christmas market in Pock on 20& 21st
Just got back from Beverley, and it was rammed. I spent the afternoon in Nellies to avoid the crowds, as you do. Rammed in there too. Tried Windmill first and couldn't even get in the door.Beverley was absolutely rammed today, big crowds, fullest I've ever seen it.
What did they all think to Nellie’s?Just got back from Beverley, and it was rammed. I spent the afternoon in Nellies to avoid the crowds, as you do. Rammed in there too. Tried Windmill first and couldn't even get in the door.
Good mix in Nellies and spoke to people from all over the country. Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham and Bury. The Bury couple said it took just over an hour to get here and another hour parking the bus. Everyone loved Beverley and said they would be back when its not so busy.
My local. Everyone loved it. Old fashioned pub, roaring log fires, decent ales at reasonable prices and good conversation. Spoke to a fella on Friday in there from Singapore, his first visit back to England and Nellies since he was at Hull University 44 years ago and he loved it, said nothing had changed. He'd just spent four days in London and Brighton and said Beverley, Hull and Nellies was far better. What did they all think to Nellie’s?
