Unfortunately I cannot see anything but a big home win tomorrow. Hopefully Burnley clatter a few of them.
The fact we can go to 64,000 relatively easily and at a fraction of any cost whether they extend the Hotch or build a new stadium is killing them. we need to extend and get the kids in whilst they fanny about.
And so it should be Leazes Park is a fantastic amenity slap bang in the town centre and was there long before the football club.
If it ever came down to ‘Friends of Leazes Park’ v the Mags they’d get a big shock. They think everyone is totally enamoured with the football club and they’re not.
There’s a very high up MLF at Newcastle Council who has very high morals and I have known for 50 years since we were 4. Let’s just say he’s in the right department to make sure the right thing happens.
watched the vid earlier and why does the bloke need to keep emphasising 'world class' before the world 'stadium' is mentioned? surely any modern stadium will be world class or it would not be worth building, after that it depends what is going to be spent...also, why does the imagined capacity keep growing 5k every time he mentions the proposed stadium. as for the bio-diversity, there is not a chance in hell that anyone (no matter where they live) can honestly and accurately replace a 150 year old established ecological system plus 10% extra in a matter of a few years...such things require time and never like being disturbed.
Many years ago one of the local papers did an article about where our Fans, those who regularly attended Games, came from. I can not remember the details but I was surprised at the conclusion which claimed that a high fraction came from outside of The Town. Mostly from County Durham, some from Northumberland. I would not be surprised if the situation at N/C mirrors this. And those from .out of town will have little influence if it comes to a Municipal battle.
There may be some truth in that but this would be far removed from a municipal planning dispute, it would need govermental involvement/approval. And, don't forget, you dont have to be a Toon Mag to be a 'Friend of Leazes Park'. "We are a membership organisation for anyone with a passion for our park. We are a registered charity and dedicated to the conservation and protection of Leazes Park for the benefit of the public and future generations and to advance public education about the Park." https://www.friendsofleazespark.uk/ Because they're totally corrupt they believe everyone who needs to be bought off is corrupt, not so.
There's land up near the airport seen as they're so attached to it The Metrocentre was built on disused industrial land. I did my GCSE Geography project on reclaiming brownfield sites and the impact of out of town shopping centres. I got an A, naturally
They are absolutely desperate to be in the news as we have taken the focus away from them so much this season.
Im not confident for the derby (never am, last one i was confident for we got beat 5-1) but how can they be favourites with where we are in the league, unbeaten home record and they've only won one away from home so far.
I believe you are allowed time to rectify the ecological affects of any development. But it is impossible to say how much it would cost, or how long, as this is a new law. Personally, I disapprove of such almighty power being given to unelected bodies, mostly by means of piggy backing on existing legislation, without any proper scrutiny. This power is normally used well beyond it's intentions. It is actually crippling progress on big and important contracts already. Some just won't go ahead without reform of the legislation. But it's there now, and as it stands presents and almost insurmountable obstacle, however much Saudi money is thrown at the problem. But there are plenty of obstacles anyway. The idea looks like a non starter to me. Maybe they can build a "World Class" burger van slip road outside the Hotch Potch somewhere.
Not much bothered any more than another game personally. But maybe it's because their match day squad will probably cost around six times what ours cost.
That is the difference between the fans, we are realistic bordering on pesamistic...which is to be expected with where we have been. They think they will beat everyone and are the worlds biggest team and fan base. It's also why many premier league opposition fans can't stand them
Be different on the day, won't feel like any other game but thought the bookies odds would go more on form and where the game is being played rather than price of squad
Definitely more pessimistic probably why we hear typical Sunderland a lot, no matter how good its going a lot of us expect it to go tits up in the future. They dont think like that and still believe they're everyone's 2nd team like they supposedly were under keegan
