I’m always happy when I see our youth players start & come on at teams in the lower leagues, but when I see some players not playing or barely getting game time at teams like Beverley & Brid etc, it does make me wonder if they’ll ever make it at any decent level.

I think often that is the reason to send them out, partly to put them into a men's game environment to see how they get on, but also to put them in the shop window to advance their careers, if they are now going to make the grade with us.

If they cannot get game time at that level, they are unlikely to progress with us.

and yet to take just one name from those above Jagielka had seemingly shown real promise...? or did I mis read that in posts ...

At the same time the training at that level is unlikely to be of decent standard. The ideal situation is we have an academy that can train up players and get them higher level experience.

I know they really rate Jagielka, as I said in the opening sentence, he has been sent out to get a taste of men's football. So I think there are 3 reasons, this, to see whether they sink or swim, and in some cases, if they feel they are now making the grade, put them in the shop window.

wonder what the future of kamara is
getafe wont buy him, they're totally skint anyway

he has a contract with us until 2028

Sometimes it’s harder for them at that level as they’ll get kicked about. KLP barely got a minute for Bradford Park Avenue the season before he broke through with us.

With the injuries we have, I wouldn't be surprised to see him recalled in January.

To be fair in his position we don't have any injuries now do we?

Presuming Lundstram is back for the weekend, we only really have three players injured (discounting Palmer who's off in Jan), it's just they're really key ones.

It will depend entirely on whether Belloumi and Millar stay fit this season. It only took both of them a game and a bit to end up out for weeks, I wouldn't be taking any chances otherwise we'll end up with what we had last season with Slater on the right or whatever.

Can we? We'd have to shift someone out presumably.

That would be Palmer, think it's a given he'll go, though I wouldn't rule out Akintola being allowed to leave either. We might also look at recalling Burstow instead of bringing in another forward. It gives us options.

Recalling Burstow would be foolish I think, it would stunt his development at a crucial time, where he's getting games and scoring goals.

It's not ideal, I'm talking worst case scenario here and I think you'd see Kamara come back before him. That being said, seven goals and three assists in 16 appearances is very good going for him.

Definitely. Beauty of Burstow is either he comes back full of confidence and can add something, or we'll be able to sell him for a decent sum, especially if Bolton come up.
