Been a long time since I checked in here but just enjoy the journey lads, the safe ownership hands we are in made this happen and a brilliant manager who I beleive will manage the French national team one day.. I'm having my 2nd triple bypass operation on Monday, this one's a bit more serious so I'll send my best wishes to you all for the last 14 years, keep smiling and be happy the lot of you..

Well said mate. Good luck on Monday. Might not mean much, but my prayers are there.

These reporters clearly don't realise how stupid, and childish, they make themselves look ...

Sunderland - and I say this as a massive compliment - are a horrible side to play against. They are almost a throwback to a bygone era but they are so effective. Huge point for them against Arsenal and they roughed up and rattled the league leaders throughout [HASHTAG]#safc[/HASHTAG]

Apparently not <whistle>

Rattled maybe as 1st team to score 2 against them and even man city had a spell with no strikers on the pitch against them holding on for a draw, we carried on pushing until the end and changed our front 3 with 3 more forwards, showed ambition to get a result.
As for roughed up I thought arsenal gave as good as they got and it was very competitive, especially 1st half. Think that might get them over the line for the title this year that they can rough it up as well as play good football.

We will play teams that won't like that sort of battle this season and we will come out on top against them but we aren't some rough dirty team being labelled there.

Home now and this team never cease to amazed me. What a battle what a point fully deserved. Ballard immense what a block at the end . Quick shout to Regis triple sub gave us momentum again when it looked like we might lose it. Absolutely awesome so proud of everyone of them and also hardly any early leavers. Haway the lads.

That sub was refreshing. Losing so we might as well put goalscorers on and go for it. And it worked! Regis is a tactical mastermind.

That's an absolute joke! The word horrible is so misplaced in that sentence as to be completely ****ing ridiculous.

We're not 80s Wimbledon, they were genuinely horrible to play against. Having a plan doesn’t fit in that context. We will set up against certain teams to counteract their strengths and occasionally that means we invite them on to a degree, but everyone in our team can play. Really, really play. They're all fast and positive. When we had the ball today we weren't shy at all, we looked great. It's been a Reggie master class, end of.

Yeah I don't get the insinuation we're some old school team getting results using every trick in the book. We defend well and score goals and play with energy and quality all over the pitch.

It's a misplaced tag to try and force on what I think is a very clean and honest team. I suppose it's either envious or stupid people who can't accept/understand that we actually are that good now.

All that horrible to play against is true. That team must be horrible to play against im the fact they aren't scared of any team, don't show anyone too much respect, fight for the entire time, are hard to score against and you can't let your guard down for a second!

Arsenal have just found them horrible to play against!

However, they are not horrible to play against in the way them two mag hoop licking tit's make it sound! They are not a team that has mastered the dark arts and cheat and kick their way to results! We don't have a single player who is dirty as **** but never gets booked. ****ing ****ers!

What an absolute arsehole Keith Downie is, this is his comment on that game ....

"Streetwise, physical, disciplined…never say die. Just a few of the words to describe new-look Sunderland. They are absolutely horrible to play against and have mastered the ugly side of the game perfectly. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again — not many teams will come to The Stadium of Light this season and win. And nobody has yet… Dan Ballard a colossus tonight."

just the usual backhanded compliments from a mag cock sucking journista

We've all watched promoted teams come up and play some decent stuff. They look good in games, sometimes really good and on top. Then, whallop, they're one down, then two. This happened to Ipswich a lot last season, to Luton the season before and it's happened to plenty of others.

What happened was they got bullied. They got bullied in midfield, or got bullied in the middle of the defence. The talent wasn't enough in the PL.

We'll get beaten plenty, ( though they are taking their time doing it!), but we won't be getting bullied.

Posted this a few times but don’t care if I’m a boring ****. Everyone goes on about identities as a team, possession, counter attack, whatever. Ours Is heart, and that’s the dream for a Sunderland team for me. We’ll finish top 10 imo. If I’m wrong I’m wrong, but let’s just get carried away.

Best wishes mate. Looking forward to you posting again once your fully recovered

Fair play guys. Definitely the best side we've played this season. Would have been a travesty if we'd won that truth be told. You deserved a result from that pulsating contest.

Just FYI - Guardiola came to The Emirates earlier in the season and ended up playing a deep block and a 5-5-0 formation in the second half. And yes, we didn't win and, yes, I know it was at our ground, but it speaks volumes that you showed more intent and purpose than City did.

Gabriel and Saliba have been two of the best CBs in Europe, yet Ballard absolutely dominated them from set-plays and crosses. I never knew he was that much of an aerial threat. And that block right at the death to stop Merino getting a last-gasp winner - outstanding defending.

Also thought Brobbey caused Gabriel a lot of issues too when he came on and eventually the pressure told when you got the equaliser (although still annoyed that Raya came out when he didn't need to).

I am a bit gutted to have not won (even if we wouldn't have deserved it) because this was our 3rd away game on the bounce and we were missing 80% of our attack, so was hoping we could just get through this in one piece and regroup after the international break. But I think this was just one game too far against a top class side.

Hoping the result won't cost us in our title ambitions, but it's a long season and lots of games left to play.

I think there's no reason at all why you can't fight for a European spot this season. Would be nice to see you get one.

All the best for the rest of your campaign (besides the reverse fixture).

<ok>
So nice to hear praise and appreciation from opposition fans rather than sides comments. Thank you.
