Isn’t it nice going into every game thinking if we play badly the gaffer will sort it out?

Also going into every game thinking we’ll score a few.

Give Serj the keys to the City!

I love how he’s always switching things up. Not just the same old thing over and over again and if it’s not working making a couple of like for like changes and carrying on. I’ve always said that systems and tactics should be horses for courses, different teams have very different strengths and weaknesses and it just seems nonsensical not to adapt, even if that means changing a winning team.

I thought that was Crooks’ worst game in a City shirt. Don’t know what he was like in the first half but he coughed up possession so many times in the second half in areas and situations he doesn’t usually. He was lucky his poor touches and passes weren’t punished.

Just the same. Like Palmer he seems incapable of putting a run of consistency together.

I thought he had a good game overall, most were poor first half, but 2nd half much better, and he made Gelhardt goal

I’m sick to death of coaches like Manning, Martin and others who stick to their ‘system’ instead of adapting to injuries, the opponent or game situation.

I remember an interview on Tigers+ in pre-season when Jakirović was asked about his style of football and ‘philosophy’ and he basically said his philosophy is to win football games. That doesn’t mean he’s a tactical dinosaur, far from it. We’ve seen him play 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 with the holding midfielder dropping between the centre-backs and both fullbacks pushing up high and wide to create a 3-2-5 shape in possession, we’ve seen him play 4-4-2/4-2-4 and now we’re seeing him use a back three/five to good effect. Some games we’ve dominated possession and other times we’ve allowed the opposition to have the ball and we hit them on the counter with pace and power. We’re extremely lethal on the counter now and it’s something City hasn’t done for years.

The amount of goals we concede is obviously a weakness and it’s why I think we’ll fall off at some point this season but this is the most entertaining City side in years.

With you, Sunday morning pub team quote on repeat all game. In his defence I put it down to whatever injury he’s playing with.

spot on

You know what. Maybe we should believe. Only problem is that the Premier league is ****e and nothing to do with football

Exactly this. I’m really 50/50 about getting promoted for this exact reason. Different to when we first went up when it was an absolute joy ride and a pleasure to watch.

I genuinely didnt realise Crooks was playing til I rechecked the teamsheet close to 20 mins in. He'd usually be one of the first names on the teamsheet if I was picking, but he had an off day today

A big thing that seems to be contributing to our success lately is that our finishing has been really good. For years this has been one of my biggest complaints but lately we've been so clinical. Gelhardt and McBurnie in particular but even the Lundstram goal against Southampton was really ruthless. It's such a big part of the game. You can see from our games against them why Norwich and Sheff United are where they are - both arguably outplayed us, certainly in spells, but didn't score despite us letting them have some big opportunities, we took our chances when they came and got the wins. We've so often been on the other side of this, it's great to see us being the clinical side for once.

Not posting to league threads to keep the charm ongoing but...

Either we promote EPL this season, or Sergej will be travelling by himself.

We finally found a good manager.

Let's not get carried away, I don't think he's suddenly on PL radars.

For certain we are riding our luck at times at the moment, but his tactical changes and understanding of the opposition’s mindset is clearly leading us to a thrilling unbeaten run. The harder I practice the luckier I get - Sergej and his battered squad are living the famous Steve Davis quote.

You forgot to mention Joseph who was very clinical once again yesterday too.

The Steve Davis quote which was actually Gary Player’s, although I don’t think he invented it either.
