I've voted bad idea, not just because of the politics threads but there are loads of non-football threads I enjoy.

I don't mind the politics threads. Most of the time it's interesting, especially from the posters who write constructive posts. Even when I might not agree with them, it's interesting seeing their thoughts and viewpoints and it helps me understand things better.

There's other threads on here that I don't bother with. Darts and Wordle keep popping up and I don't bother opening those as I'm not interested in Darts or Wordle. If I started a thread asking for Darts and Wordle threads to be banned, all the Darts and Wordle fans would tell me to **** off (and rightly so!)

If you don't like politics, it's easy just to ignore the threads and not read them.

    I just block the plonkers

Nothing wrong with different topics, even if it is not about football.

I really enjoy the 'funnies' for instance. Although I do notice that all some posters put up is political jokes about politicians they hate.

Avoid them like the plague nowadays. They're just exactly like anywhere else on the internet. A place for trolls to dry hump each other into friction burn and oblivion.

The older I get the more I start to think Plato and Aristotle had a point.

People are too stupid for free speech and they're too easily led for democracy to work.

    It's all about free speech.
But I thought this not606 Sunderland site was about football and especially Sunderland.
Bin the political debate part of it totally.
    It suits no purpose whatsoever.
I'm sure those on both sides of political divide know that whatever is said changes absolutely nothing us minions can only change anything at the ballot box.
    BIN IT TOTALLY.

For those who want to get rid of a subject that there is a lot of interest in, on a message board, we will not be destroying what is a popular topic for some, we will not be destroying discussions, on a message board, and we will not be restricting what people can talk about, on a message board :emoticon-0148-yes:

If a subject doesn't appeal to some, avoid it.

There has been some silliness, some nonsensical postings, and some absolute bollocks, but political threads are important to some, so closure is not an option.

I can think of one thread that could be closed, mind <whistle>

Not really, what do you think the ‘off topic’ option is all about?

I'd be happy to see the back of them but it's free speech and democracy.

Less of the shouting, childishness and personal abuse would help though imo ...

... it means there's no actual debate, just ranting.

I rarely use the ignore facility but have had to with this.

If I wanted to see endless video clips and propaganda I'd just go on the sites they're copied from, which I don't.
