I wonder if he will go down the shoehorn Stephens route like Martin did. We definitely lack leaders and Stephens is probably the best one we’ve got, which I think Martin realised and put a lot of emphasis on.

I've steered away from the many iterations of this conversation across the various threads (which for some reason seems to have become an I'm right / You're wrong debate everywhere) to give a bit of time to it, plus I've had some code to finish..

I'm not interested in getting drawn into the verbal bun fights but will happily discuss valid points of view and here's mine for what it's worth.

I can't see SR pulling the trigger on WS until nearer the window, if at all, as there isn't a stand out candidate from the likely available list that you'd go "yes - that person will gets us promoted (via the playoffs)" - which is probably why they are available. We aren't going to pay out someone from another team at the moment - it just doesn't make financial sense until our own positions are more solid.

WS has to start learning from the past games and not keep making these odd team decisions on the pitch that consistently have a negative impact. He probably can learn as he can't be a bad coach considering the experience he does have - the question is will he do so quick enough to turn back the fans?

The table is tight enough that we could be in the mix for play offs quite quickly is something does indeed change with the team.

There seems to be some off pitch issues with the team availability. Is this normal but we are focussing on it more as we are looking for any negative things to pounce on? Maybe I'm naive and thought all the squad travelled just to cover for these types of situations and if you weren't playing you still had to be there etc etc.

Injuries and sickness has impacted some games with players not well and / or injured so on top of the team decisions I feel we have yet to play what I think is the strongest squad.

WS is too defensive minded with the players we have - that shows when he tries to shut up shop with a 1 goal lead - take the hint from coventry - if you batter the other team with constant attacking football of sufficient quality you will win consistently and well (which creates a positive loop for us and a negative one for the other team - no one wants to play coventry at the moment)

The window didn't cover all bases - but I think it was done to plan but we got hit with some issues that likely weren't expected. Downs hasn't gelled, Stewart has glass hamstrings and the rest of the players who should have goals in them have forgotten that the round thing has to go inside the net.

The past decisions from SR have led us to here - that's a fact you can't hide from. We can't change them now though and whilst protesting will highlight the feelings of the fans unless Solak wants to sell, and someone wants to buy at the acceptable valuation to all parties, he isn't going anywhere.

So I think we're in for a rough couple of months which could have some light at the end of the tunnel but that could just be a train coming the other way..

Can't see Sport Republic selling us right now, that's a pipedream in my opinion. They would be losing the 'flagship' team of their multi-club project, but they'd also have to sell at a big loss. Granted us getting worse and worse will do nothing for our value, but I just can't see them selling (yet).

I also can't see them getting rid of Still. I might be remembering this wrong, but when he joined didn't Still say that his remit is to get us back to the prem within two seasons? Essentially suggesting the club were willing to give him this season and next to get us promoted. We clearly aren't where we want to be, but rightly or wrongly I think he will be given time.

I voted yes to get rid, but really I'm in two minds. Frustrated because I haven't seen much to suggest he's capable of turning things around (let alone get us promoted), so we may as well make a change. But on the other hand SR probably won't get his replacement right and the constant changing of managers isn't good either.

I think we should be prepared for Still being here for a little while longer.

Also the players need to take a look at themselves. The goals we concede are dreadful, and we should have been out of sight in the last three games if we could actually take our chances.

I'm not active on all social media platforms so may have missed it but I don't see a lot of the players from the past few seasons talking about sorting themselves out. It seems to just be the new players / staff (Leo, Mads, WS etc)

With the fact they still have some players they wanted to shift but couldn't, perhaps there is some unruly element that still needs to be excised?

Doesn't forgive the on-pitch efforts but could be impacting off-pitch stuff.

Only need to have a few of the players looking at Aribo and going "why he he getting paid that much compared to me and not having to face all this crap?" - though I don't blame aribo one bit for taking the contract offered.

Only ones who look like they have been banished is Aribo and Edozie, and neither seem like particularly bad apples but who knows behind the scenes. 2 players doesn’t sound like “loads” to me. Possibly players like Bree, BBD, Smallbone, ABK and Taylor who we could only loan out are also being considered here but pretty sure BBD is the only one contracted past this season so the others are basically irrelevant from a squad building perspective as they aren’t going to be here again if we don’t want them to be.

So yeah would be interesting to know who is being referred to in the “loads” comment, we never will though

Trying to think who these players are. Edozie and Aribo seem to have been sidelined so they're obviously prime suspects. Players who are out on loan are unlikely to be the cause of any current problems.

Breaking down the rest of the squad.

These players have effectively only joined this summer so probably aren't the cause of any problem: Roerslev, Azaz, Scienza, Quarshie, Fellows, Jander, Matsuki, Jelert, Long, Downs
These are too young to be the problem: Robinson, Sesay, Bragg
These have either played well or don't seem the type not to be trying: Stephens, Armstrong, Stewart, Wood, Charles, Fraser
These I'm not totally sure. Some may not be good enough but I don't see too many obvious signs of an attitude problem: McCarthy, Edwards, Bazunu, Welington, Manning

Which leaves Downes, THB and Archer. I could see all of them being annoyed at not playing and thinking they're better than they are, although I'm not sure if that's fair on Downes because Alfie House keeps saying he's been more affected by that e coli infection than I expected. So who knows.

Thinking about it, Fraser has clashed with coaching staff in the past so maybe he's more likely than I first thought. Could be a player who's fine on the pitch but not so much off it.

Quite possibly, but on the other hand I think there would’ve been interest in both of them if we really wanted to shift them in the summer, as both of them have shown enough in their careers to have interest. So being pissed off we couldn’t shift them doesn’t fit in my head

Could be a more recent thing if they are pissed off at not playing as regularly this season and are now causing issues, but that’s just pure speculation on my part.
