... than football supporters and they'd be right, but it's close.

This club has been totally transformed in the last few years and become a source of pride.

Yet there's a determined group of people who latch onto anything they decree is negative.

Sunderland dared to lose a Premier League game at Man Utd but some people simply have to whinge at the club.

Just demonstrates, in a backhanded way, just how much the club has progressed despite what the doom mongers will insist.

Yesterday’s loss was nothing in the grand scheme of things. Same as the loss to Burnley. Someone had asked me would you have taken this start seven games in I would have snapped their hands off. Unbelievable start and to me heading for an unbelievable season where come the end of season we will be well above the bottom three.
Just look back to the last five league games last season where I think we lost all and where we are now. Not on board with bitch and moaners. Till the end…HTL!!!

I didn’t even bother coming on yesterday so I’ve not seen the comments here but I saw a few on social media.

I was talking to a bloke in the gym who’s a black and white who expected us to get something and he was shocked when I told him I think we’ll get beat 3 or 4 nil. I said this back in August when people were saying we should be happy with a point off the Brentford and Burnley matches and I said those are the games we HAVE to target… you don’t look at the fixture list and think you’re getting 3 points from United away. Established teams shouldn’t even be thinking that never mind newly promoted clubs, they’ve just been in an europa league final for **** sake. To think that we should be taking points there and we’re suddenly at that level is a massive overshoot. They brought on about £200m of subs never mind the value of their starting Xl.

Beat Wolves in two weeks time that’ll be 8 points from the 5 matches since Brentford and that’s a very good return. I would’ve happy been with the 5 points we’ve already banked.

That's how it all works unfortunately, optimists stay away from forums while others just shout louder.

That's why the whingers will always take the upper hand when things don't go so well, they feel empowered.

Forums, like this, will always attract losers who can't cope with actual reality so create a 'reality' of their own.

The clue is that they never have any stories about matches they go to, daft stuff that happens or scrapes they get into ...

... it's always just about things they've 'witnessed' on the telly <doh>

I'm going to watch the match again in full tomorrow, then go through the match thread... I watched the game with family so couldn't really get immersed in the game.

The progress, given that it has been made on all fronts at the same time, eclipses any that I can think of anywhere in my time.

It's just over three and a half years since we were getting battered 6-0 away to Bolton. Now we are where we are, with the entire club transformed from top to bottom and more to come.

It is mind altering to see the change and the pace of it.

We have lost two games out of seven. If we only lose say, another fourteen, we'll probably finish in the top seventeen, which will be job done.

    Amazing.

I was at that game with @Whittylad who passed me leaving the car park at 4-0 ...

... he called his lass by full time and asked her to put his tea on <laugh>

Six years ago I was at Lincoln and watched us lose with McGeouch, McLaughlin, De Bock, Lynch, Willis and other players you might never have heard of, I wish I hadn't!.
I'd started the day battering some Lincoln hooligans who'd come into our pub to cause trouble and tear our flags down ...

... I ended the day wondering how our club sunk so far.

Those were grim times. It was impressive how many fans stuck by the club, believing our luck would change at some point. And didn't it just.

recall after the last game of the season proper before the POs that there were a fair few with close to ties to a certain podcast that were demanding for RLB to be sacked,

I remember that and some of the managers they were demanding should be brought in ...

... all the type of shouty 'character' managers you'd totally expect.

We’re on a massive learning curve as a club. 8 years away from the Premier and we’ve had an amazing start, but defeats, especially away from home, are to be expected and no shame getting beat of Man Utd. Regis admitted he got the formation wrong and changed it and by all accounts we were much better second half (my stream went to pot so didn’t see it). People are rightly disappointed because a lot of people including myself thought we could get something from the game, but certainly not to the point of whinging and complaining. How on earth can you complain after the start to the season we’ve had? Roll on Wolves!

It's sad to see people like you being labelled a 'happy clapper' and out to attack anyone with different opinions.

Totally predictable, of course, but sad nonetheless.

There was a time when you supported your team through thick and thin, win, lose or draw. Now you get called a happy clapper for doing so. Times have certainly changed!

I haven't really been on this board or the SMB much lately, theres an awful lot of hate in the world and one thing that brings me joy is Sunderland. So not being too downhearted and eating into the negativity when we lose is a move I choose to make. Its hard because I love the interaction on here and elsewhere, I don't really have too much to say to be honest.

At least it's not twitter where **** gets thrown in your face. The way these ****s like Musk profit from our life and emotions is really despicable.

I'm not sure, and I'm only going off what I've witnessed, but is the term 'happy clapper' only used by certain types of 'supporter' . . . . generally those wanting to cause problems/ridicule those with a positive outlook towards S.A.F.C. :emoticon-0112-wonde
