I’d even take beating them in the Championship next season tbh!! On the JWP note, would anyone take him back on loan in Jan for rest of the season?
Yes. But I'm biased because I loved him Genuinely think he will end up back here one day, though. In a Walcott/Lallana type role.
No. He just looks so pedestrian whenever I see him play. If we find ourselves needing him our season has not gone well.
It is looking increasingly likely that at least one established PL club will go down or at least be in serious danger. Wolves and West Ham are clearly the two most in danger.
West Ham looking a mess is nothing new. But they usually still survive, and I'd expect the same this season. Newcastle, Villa and Forest will all be fine. Wolves are the ones in big trouble. Sold their best two players, and no sign yet that either have been adequately replaced. Brentford and Fulham I can't make up my mind on.
I still find it crazy that so many fans didn't want to us to bring him in on loan last summer. Because our squad was sooo amazing, wasn't it... 12 whole points. Even if he can't offer much more than a FK (I think he can though), that's still more than most of our squad contributed last year!
Ndiaye-KDH-Grealish is a very good attacking trip tbf. And Dibling-Alcarez-McNeil is a decent back-up trio. Feels like quite a while since Everton had that level of depth.
Hear both sides of the JWP opinions. Would personally love to see him come back, if only to offer experience towards the end of games. Lot of leadership qualities & would be a great end to his career to come back, help us up & finally beat that Prem FK record with us
I've only just clocked that its taken Sunderland 6 games to win more games than we did last season. Oh and they only need one more point to equal our tally from last season. Just 6 games....
I was thinking of it more from his perspective. 10 minutes at the end of games isn't going to help him develop. He should have moved somewhere he would play.
Re JWP - might be a bit of a lone voice here, but I wouldn't want him back on loan or whatever in January. Bringing him back means not playing Charles or Jander, and I'd much rather develop them than pull a regressive move and bring back JWP. Central midfield is an area (with Flynn as well, and Sesay for emergencies) where we're actually pretty well stocked - would far rather we concentrated on areas where we actually need improvement.
Will be a problem though if Charles decides not to renew his contract with us. We might need to cash in on him next summer.
I would love to see 3 London clubs go down or Brighton and the Mini-Skates but they are too well run atm.
