I disagree. There's always an excuse to have some **** of a man in charge so I'll just stick with my opinion that why not have an honest man in charge.

I believe we will finally see the promise of levelling up in the north.

Concern I have with an all in one ID card, is it will also become your pass to certain places, they don't want people in certain places on certain dates during protests, and to pass go, there will be QR scanners that check if you are a local, much like we've got the use of facial recognition without our permission. Once you go to all in one idea, it opens so many avenues for government control.

If I have to have one I'll have one, it's not a problem, I got ID for ****ing everything else, but it's going down a very dangerous path. Imagine how someone like Trump or Putin could use this type of technology, Trump especially it don't even bear thinking about.

I could probably see facial recognition being linked to your id card as well. That will also link to your banks eventually, then get what Canada did during Covid with threats of stopping people's bank accounts, with digital id evolving in the future, they will be able to do it at the stroke of a switch.

This ^^^

It's okay people saying, we'll if you've done nothing wrong then you have nothing to worry about. But it depends on who's doing the judging.

For me it's a massive overreach of state intrusion. I know we all have our details on record in one form or another, but being made to have a compulsory ID card opens up all sorts of potential abuses depending on who wants to control what people do / have access to etc.

Trump....

You attended that leftie protest and we have proof because your face was recognised, therefore we're restricting access to your bank account on terrorism prevention strategies

Sound far fetched ?

It's exactly the sort of power he would abuse.

It's not far fetched it's the sort of thing that will happen if we give them the ability to do that.

All this has advanced quite quickly since covid, we were always on a gradual path but covid accelerated everything.

I remember people saying we would never let them lock us down again, if we continue on this path you might not get a choice in it.

Will be interesting to see the fallout from this over the coming days and weeks.

Will there be a vote on it in the end, will fear on both sides be used to push an agenda?

but the question on everyone’s lips is…..who is it eating the swans.

I liked lockdown me and the dog had lovely long walks with n0 one else bothering us :bandit:

I went to WFH in the March and never fully returned to the office.

If it keeps me locked away from some of the morons in the office and I will have an ID card. I’m a teams call person now

Neither for or against digital ID’s bur find it strange that all the stories are that taxes might have to go up in the budget, but we can afford this. Maybe I’ve missed something around the financial benefits it could provide?
I do find the hysteria funny though on social media. The same people who are quite vocal about it taking away their freedoms, will quite happily post anything and everything about their lives on these sites.

I'm ahead of them - I plan to identify as an Avacado (other fruits are available) just before the rules come in - not only will it thwart their tracking, it will create mayhem with the theft sensors at every supermarket in the surrounding area ... :)

I going to identify as a ****. Most people know me as that anyway, so it won’t be a difficult transition!!!!

Did 1984 for O Level - in 1976! ... remember really enjoying it, but thinking it a little far fetched in parts - time has proved it wasn't - Orwell just got the year wrong, is all...
