I 100% would rather have gone out tonight than get that injury to Leoni and a suspension for Ekitike. Just not worth it. A ****ing cruciate at 18 will be horrendous, and it means we're relying on Joe and/or Endo stepping up before January (when I hope we realise we have to pay whatever Palace want now), and after tonight's pantomime, I frigging dread that. Just pray we get an 'easy' draw again, because if we get a top six side we'll feel obliged to play Virgil and/or Konate. ****e.
Is it confirmed as a cruciate ?

Anyone see Slot's post game interview? Just wondered if this was true or BS...

Probably is, but I still agree with it.

Edit: Seems he did say it, the quote is on the Beeb's match report.
The full thing

But, speaking just after the game, his manager Arne Slot was left bemused by the incident.

"It is not [stupid] because it was his second [yellow] - it's stupid even if you haven't had a yellow card yet," he said.

"Maybe I'm a bit old-fashioned but I did score a few goals - not at his level but I did - and if I went past three players and put it in the top corner then maybe you can say 'this is all about me'.

"But if I scored a goal like he did tonight, I would turn to Chiesa and say 'it's about you Federico - great assist, great run and I didn't have to do a lot'. Maybe that's me being old-school.

"It was stupid, not smart in every sense. The good thing is that his team-mates helped him to get the win over the line, but the thing is he is now suspended for Saturday and that is far from ideal."

It’s true. He did say, he said it a bit tongue in cheek, saying in a bit old school so if it was me….

<peacedove> The league games are coming in tough and tougher. March Guehi supposed to be on the opposition side today, unfortunately it is not so. Hugo Ekitike shot himself in the foot yesterday by getting a second
yellow card, he has opened the door for Alaxender Isak to start this game,
This is not going to be an easy game, I hope we can get all the points.

Look he also said he was stupid himself when he got sent off v Everton.

Take no prisoners.

Im sure that ekitike forgot he had a card and tbh he looked red in the face and embarrassed going off so I see no issue here.

He knows himself.

The manager knows.

He even apologised last night.

Hugo Ekitiké has opened the door for Alexander Isak to start against Crystal Palace, he must have himself to blame for getting a second yellow card.

The main thing about our style of play is cbs passing.

You have to move the ball and pyu have to be willing to do more than a sideways 10 yarder.

If gomez and Leoni are willing to move it to the opposite full back or go forward we will be OK.

If they are inhibited and just side shuffle it'll kill all momentum

Endo is hardly going to do a gravenberch so we need someone making that body and being that option.

After that I really hope chiesa shows something. He looked fit Friday so wasnt even in the squad (not all can be)

I hope ngumoha really shows something.

I really hope nyoni gets a game.

Called it.

Neither cb was willing to bypass the other. Every pass was either hospital pass to a cm 5 yards in front or a sideways 5 harder to their cb buddy.

Not one was willing to cut out the cb and get the full back moving on.

Delighted with chiesa.

Disappointed in nyoni. He will now be on the scrap pile for a loan

Alisson
Bradley konate vvd kerkez
Grwvenberch Szoboszlai
Salah wirtz gakpo
Isak

Can put on macallister and Chiesa who will be on the bench after the card and performance.

Frimpong played his way out of starting imo (really really poor)

We are now left hoping we get to January 1 without a cb injury.

Also slot is right.

Its a tap in after chiesa was a real pro and made sure we scored rather than scoring himself.

Taking your shirt off to celebrate a tap in was juvenile even when you have no yellow already.

Leoni looking like the player we thought he would be. Hopefully the injury isn't as bad as it looked. Brilliant debuts from him and Mamadashvili.

Chiesa MOTM by some way. Ekitike, what can you say. Nice cool finish for his first goal from Isak.
Absolutely praying it’s not an ACL. He looked really good last night and the thought of Gomez as back up after last night’s display does not fill me with confidence

An ACL injury is primarily caused by activities involving a sudden change in direction, an awkward landing from a jump, a direct blow to the knee, or sudden stops while running. These movements cause stress on the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), which connects your thighbone to your shinbone, leading to a stretch or tear.
