Unfortunately, it looks like Lioni has torn his ACL according to Fabrizio Romani. Really bad news for the lad, he will be out for the season

If Gakpo has yet another stinker Chiesa would be an option on the left.

Hope at some point we’ll see Ekitike and Isak together with maybe Wirtz given a bit of freedom to drift left along with those 2. Almost a diamond 4 in the middle and 2 up but with license to roam

Slot wont do that.

We are actually holding gakpo deeper like.as if mlopp never left.

The real slot change is gluing salah and gakpo to the touchline rather than letting players go where they like.

In that context gakpo is doing what he is doing but he could certainly do better when he finally get a bit of ball he can use.

My chiesa played rw, 10 and lw last night v championship team but worked hard for us and delivered 2 assists.

Best thing for him now, don't try to rush him back.. Let him recover, and take time to regain confidence in his body. It comes as a blow when something like that happens and you don't feel invulnerable any more.
Fortunately he's not a starter (though he would have been important given the number of games), so barring further injury, and a signing or two in January, we should be able to give him the time he needs.

Its an odd one and I cant say i saw.it but you.get the usual folks going i saw this or that or second hand so you.dont know but we do know when they produce the gas then its severe.

As much as anything, he knew. As I said last night, my niece was in the Main Stand just metres from him, and he was sobbing his heart out. I think Slot reffered to that as well.

I ****ing hate the early rounds of the LC. If we could go back in time, I'd prefer Soton beat us and we that we took Leoni off after 75 minutes for concussion, nd Ekitike missed an open goal and never got to take his shirt off, and...well, I suppose if your aunt had balls she'd be your uncle. We had to play the kid sometime, and this was the ideal game. He was playing so ****ing good as well. :emoticon-0120-doh:

I agree. It's such a shame for the lad. At times like this you can try and feel better about the situation by putting things into perspective and wishing that Jota was out just for the season.

Also have to take into account he has kid debutant next to him and had Endo Nyoni infront who 1, aren’t great getting the ball to feet in the turn, and 2, is young inexperienced kid.

Stick Mac/grav/szobo in that midfield and suddenly has a bit more protection and can give the ball to them under pressure and let them deal with it rather than trying to force it or play 1-2s as Endo can’t turn on the ball under any pressure.

Games like that I don’t think can really use to get a proper judge of a player as always a bit of a mess, especially early in season when 50% of them probably aren’t fully match fit either.

Not forgetting, he'll have VVD next to him too

This game is tricky
Could defo be first points dropped
Which momentum wise will not be good
Cup game was not good for us

Not immediately, he'll have to wait until the window for squad changes opens
The registration rules were changed just before the current tournament kicked off to allow clubs to make one change to their squad during the league phase in case of injury or illness lasting a minimum of 60 days. Registration valid up to matchday 6 even if it's a temporary replacement.

Yup. Its "up to round 6" so what it actually means is up to the January transfer window when you can reregister anyway.

Chiesa can play cb as well.

Anyone who is that slow but works that hard deserves a break.

Classic cult hero material

he’s not fast, I’ll grant you, but he’s not that slow either, is he? Made really intelligent runs and was great on the ball from what I saw (second half), Isak will play a half, Chiesa a second half vs palace - very tough game for us. Palace are very strong.
