We need to get out of the mindset that benefits for people born in the UK (who have never worked a day in their lives) is fine and dandy, but heaven forfend Johnny Foreigner who does valuable work and actually contributes to society shouldn't get anything by way of state benefits. That's what Farage seems to be suggesting.

It goes without saying that Johnny Foreigner who works for minimum wage in the hospital laundry and tops up his meagre earnings with UC is more valuable to society than Johnny Englishman who does nothing but pick his nose, drink cider and play scratchcards. That is a given.

Trouble is, there are particular ethnic groups where unemployment is rife. They are a drain on resources and make a mockery of the migrants who do everything by the book.

Those who do nothing but take need to be rooted out and forced into work or returned to their place of origin.

I think that's fair on the taxpayer.

Personally I'd make a start by letting Asylum Seekers work. Same system as France.
