Well not this season, but hopefully next year. Since January we have on a fantastic run losing only 2 in 19, so we don't need to panic about not making the Play-Offs this year. In all honesty we were never really going to have a chance after the start we made but it was expected woth the amount of players leaving and arriving. So now we can all enjoy the football for the rest of the season, pressure free almost. Next year will be the one though and it is starting to come together already, with Jimmy saying that he is not bothered aboutt he money which willhopefully interest other clubs to take him in the summer. If I remember correctly Adam said that Bullard would be taking up something like 20% of our wage budget next season. So him going should give us a little more movement to bring in a few more players. Hopefully Ghilas will be moved on and Seyi will most likely return to the Prem even without Cardiff. Then there's alll the players whose contracts are up, so come pre-season we will probably have a threadbare squad but we should be able to bring in a few more quality players to help us challenge for promotion. I've got a bad instinct that we won't be able to sign Gerrard but I hope that I'm wrong. Hopefully we can add Evans to the team and see how Etuhu and Ince do if they come in. Then we may need another keeper providing we sign Mannone/Guzan and maybe a young left back in a similar mould to Rosenior to challenge Dawson, not that he's done anything wrong though. Hopefully it will all come together and we can enjoy a great season next year.
Even if we don't get Gerrard, I have faith in the management team that they will get decent replacements in. I agree that we will just miss out this year though it would be brilliant if we managed to deprive Leeds of a play-off spot. The rebuilding and uncertainty at the start of the year cost us the chance. It's not been mentioned at all but we are safe from relegation now this year and already that's a great achievement by the Pearsons, getting us back on track.
ditto the above - we should be very thankful we're even challenging for a play-off spot when in the dark days of November we were just hoping to survive as a club..
We aren't far off, we are at present one of the top sides in what is in fairness a very weak championship. Unfortunately due to our poor start we won't be going anywhere this year, i can't stand the idea of TWS making the play-offs and us not doing when we are a better side than them but we have to look to next season by which point we will be as good as Cardiff are now if we carry on at this rate.
