I remember having just miss the page that you were mainly interested in (the SAFC score for example), waiting for it to come around again.
Often, especially when on a portable TV, the eventual page would be a jumble of letters and shapes due to the poor signal, then intermittently half correcting itself and then trying to decipher what you've just seen before the page changes again.

Brilliant! My Dad used to watch Teletext all Saturday afternoon to get our scores. You could have it overlaid on the tv programme. So you could have the tv programme and teletext showing at the same time. So my mother would be watching a cowboy film and he would have teletext over the top of it. Bizarre!
