I was at that gig at the ABC, I remember it well with Crime of the Century disappearing down the album cover as the song ended. The support act was Joan Armatrading - it was her first major tour and she's put some lovely comments on social media.
A shock. I know he has struggled with alcohol, drugs and depression since retiring. He always amazed me that between fights he could put on 3 or 4 stone but somehow had the dedication to get down to fighting weight. Great to watch.
Ricky Hatton along with Joe Calzaghe where the boxers that got me into boxing in the early naughties...All action fighter and great character outside the ring. He transcended not just boxing but sport as well! Gutted doesn't come close. RIP Ricky Hatton ☹️
RIP Ricky Hatton. I’m no boxing fan by any stretch of the imagination, but stunned by this tragic news. Truly awful. The people’s champion, charismatic, personable. just goes to show despite the fame, success, titles in whatever field you pursue, the biggest fight is in silence, in the mind. If you’re struggling, just talk, whimper, shout out to someone. RIP Ricky
Only seven days ago today Ricky Hatton was having a drink with a well know Hull City fan in a bar in Teneriffe. Further proof that you never know when your number is up. RIP Ricky Hatton, you left you mark.
Wow, this is so sad. I went to the Mayweather fight with a bunch of mates, such an amazing night despite the result. We were sat in front of Joe Calzaghe (we had amazing seats. RIP Ricky and thanks for the memories.
Sounds amazing experience. I nearly got to see him fight Carlos Maussa in Sheffield. But my uncle couldn't get the tickets in time an then get us to the fight.
