Wtf??? What a horrible thing to say, I didn't agree with his views on a lot of things except his disagreement with men transitioning into women and demanding to participate in women's sports. I disagreed with his gun laws, Trump making America great again, but he didn't deserve to be shot.
Does that translate as, 'A few internet idiots are celebrating a man's death for a few other internet idiots to see'. Saying 'the left' and 'everyone' is the kind of language that makes these situations worse in my opinion. I doubt posters, off here, want anyone to feel sorry for them because a nutcase in America used a gun tbh. It won't be long until there's a hundred conspiracy theories about who fired the gun, why the leftist police didn't protect him and how it was the right who killed him because he knew the truth about Trump.
I didn't say he deserved to be shot, I just said I'm not bothered he's dead. I don't agree with the idea of "don't speak ill of the dead", if someone was a scumbag when they were alive, the fact they are dead doesn't change that
Right wing nuts aren’t that bothered that a Labour MPs office has been set alight. Swings and roundabouts. All political violence is wrong but if you actively promote guns and want them freely available you can’t complain when someone who blatantly shouldnt have had a gun shoots you. we are living in a sad and dangerous world.
It’s really not a few though mate. Comment sections filled with hate and tens if not hundreds of thousands of likes supporting those hateful comments. It’s pretty much every video from every outlet. Really ugly to be honest but this is America, a nation that’s very divided at the minute and it’s easier than ever to pick up a device and post a load of ****e knowing there’s no consequences (most of the time). When Martin Luther King was assassinated I’m sure black folk weren’t sat there thinking up conspiracies about how they bet it’s a black guy.. it’s normally the one with the most obvious motive and Kirk was definitely right wing and outspoken. I don’t agree with a lot of his arguments especially the 2nd amendment and abortion views he held but common sense would lead people to think he was assassinated for his views on politics rather than a disagreement over something like abortion, as normally is the case with assassinations on political folk and until it’s proven otherwise that’s what people will assume. Just like people are assuming that the racist graffiti dubbed on the Chinese restaurant last week was done by a right wing racist and not a left wing loony trying to stir the pot.
Dip in and out of these ' Political ' threads and getting sick of all the back biting and bitching so will avoid then completely in the future. As if anyone cares.
Spot on mate, hard to feel sorry for a guy who got shot, when he has previously literally said gun deaths are "a price worth paying". Tell that to all the grieving parents of school kids massacred indiscriminately because of policies he's vehemently supported. Those innocent children, I mourn. Their wrecked families, I condole. Kirk and his ilk? Absolutely not. Sometimes, karma's a bitch. Off you ****, Charlie.
Disagreed with just about everything he said and what he stood for! The religious nutters in this country have far too much power. Trump and his ilk are aligned to them because they bring their flocks with them! 3 children were shot in their school this morning, 2 yesterday (+ shooter). Very little said about these deaths and injuries as it’s a daily occurrence here, and barely make the news. Kirk has previously said that gun deaths are “unfortunately “ worth it to keep the 2nd amendment. We don’t know yet who shot him. Militant lefties are getting the blame ( and likely true) but it’s way too early to say. It was Republican supporters, one who shot at Trump, another was arrested attempting to shoot him. Having said all that, he didn’t deserve to die, violence is never the answer.
There's no difference between left wing nutters and right wing nutters tbh ... ... allow them easy access to powerful weapons and this is the result.
Been shocked how many posts there are on twitter showing in graphic detail the whole episode. I thought there were rules about that sort of thing?
Not since Musk took over. He claims to be a "free speech absolutist" so anything goes. The most hateful, vile, offensive lies? Go ahead, in his view it's fine. Violent, sickening, degrading images? Knock yourself out. It's all good to him, unless you criticise him.
The worst thing is I clicked on a news link when the story broke yesterday and now my twitter feed is full of some awful images and comments
The current crop of world politicians need to take a really long hard look at themselves. They are the problem. East and West, Left and Right, all causing destabilisation at will. But whatever the problem, be killed like that in front of your wife and bairns should never be the price you pay for having opinions.
A lot of people seem to be getting it twisted, "his opponents" are either happy he's dead (because why show empathy to someone who shows such hatred) or they are saying he didnt deserve this. One extremist has done this. Its quite laughable really, this happens every year.
The irony is his quote about empathy and also guns. Like its been said, the middle is where we must stand in my opinion, reject extremism. Show empathy. Love and aid where we can.
Genuinely interested, why do you think he deserves to rest in peace? A sexist, racist, gun nut? A man who celebrated Israel's daily bombing of women and children? A man who deemed the regular massacre of innocent schoolkids to be "worth it" if it meant he got to keep his precious second amendment rights? Personally I think RIH (rot in hell) is far more appropriate than RIP, in this case
I’m not aware of him “celebrating” the bombing of women and children directly however in regards to the second amendment and school shootings.. that’s the majority of Americans. Are they a bit backward? Yes. Should they all be assassinated for holding that view? Nope.
