You and I don’t know but if I was a player would want to be playing given it’s a short career. It appears like they just want to pick up a premier league wage without doing any work. Matate, Poveda and Pembebi in particular have been very poor signings and I’m sure the club would want them out the door as they have contributed next to nothing.
I agree the club want them out the door. Matete has always shown willing to go out, as did Pembele. Poveda I’m surprised there was no taker he’s done a job in the championship, is fit and has been sharp and working hard in the u21 sides. Anderson, well just a waste of space. I don’t believe the other 3 have chosen to sit on their contracts. They are league one contracts for Matete, low level for Pembele and appearance related for Poveda. I’m not gonna slander them, I genuinely think they had nowhere to go.
Short careers often mean maximising earnings. That’s probably what they’ve done. I’m sure they’d love to play competitively but not necessarily for 30% a week less. It might be a dream profession but it’s also just a job and very few people take a massive pay cut on the basis they might have to do more work even if they enjoy it.
A loan move would have been the best option but it looks like they would prefer to sit as the club certainly encouraged them to look for moves very early in the summer. they can take the short term view and fleece the club but for their longer term career it would surely be better for them looking at their next contract. I would imagine any perspective club would want a player who actually wanted to play rather than someone who didn’t and was happy to pick up a wage without earning it.
They wouldn't have lost out by moving, so it was in their interests to have a look elsewhere. I'm a bit surprised that Matete hasn't had a loan. He's been keen to take them before and looked good enough for a decent league one side.
The irony is, some of the new players may have suited playing with Roberts, he's a skillful player that tries the pass that some of the players aren't on his wavelength to think a head with
They’re not fleecing anyone, they’re contracted to the club. A loan would probably have benefited them but aren’t always possible. Some may yet depart to different leagues although that seems increasingly unlikely.
in matches, yeh, I agree. He’ll have trained with them all plenty though. He’ll have had the chance to show “connection”‘ with them.
have you "Seen" talksport now? Set up like a panel like sky sports news with Jim "live from the 17th floor of the news building here in Central London" White looking into the camera for YouTube?
They are taking money out of the club and offering little in return. Best for all if they are moved on and I’m sure the club tried to make it happen - they gave them plenty hints!
Totally agree , RLB and the coaches know what he is capable of but his influence during games was diminishing and like myself I do not think he was capable of the step up to the Premier League standard that is required. He was a very talented player but his goals and assists needed to be better in the Championship never mind the Premiership and it comes as no surprise that it was time for the club and player to part company and like the club I would like to wish him all the best with his new club .
I didnt realise Josh Brownhill was available for free. Without sounding too greedy i wouldn't mind us going in for him. He's already turned Wolves down and has interest from Saudi.
Sure someone said he was being offered 100k a week, good luck to him if he gets than like aslong as we aren’t paying it would definitely be a good option for the squad though
