They have sold quite a few players already tbf with no incomings. Although they haven’t sold Fatuwu or El Khannouss yet so maybe this is incase they sell one of them. And at this point are they ever actually going to be punished for breaking the

Leicester fans slag of their football director Ruskin, imagine what it’s like to have a good player come in before you’re selling a current 1st team player in the same position??

I'm taking a punt that they won't be exercising their option.

Interestingly, they were also the club who had the option to make Roerslev's loan permanent, and didn't take it up either. So we've basically just swapped players.

Yep.

And besides, their PSR issues are historical. Sure, they still need to punished - but until or unless that punishment includes a transfer ban (and I haven't heard that their EFL transfer ban at the end of 2023-24 still continues today?), then they're free to sign players.

For their current three-year PSR cycle, for the period up 30 June 2026, I assume they're in a relatively OK position. As you say, for this season so far they haven't yet signed anyone (except for Begovic on a free) - but have sold the likes of Hermansen and Ndidi. And in the previous two years which fall into this cycle, I wouldn't be surprised if their sales (the likes of Harvey Barnes and KDH) exceed their purchases.

I’ve always been confused as to how they’ve managed to break the rules by so much. The season they were relegated with us (the first time) I’m sure they didn’t spend anything, then lost the players you mentioned and Maddison as well after relegation. Then it didn’t feel like they spent much after promotion.

These historic charges probably aren’t impacting their latest 3 year cycle

I think it was the two year period immediately prior to their first relegation season which really hurt them. Their wage bill was enormous (for a club of their income level) and I think their only major sale was Fofana to Chelsea, at the very start of that relegation season.

They did also waste a lot of money in the January transfer window of their first relegation season (just like we did). Only now has that dropped out of their cycle.

When they then did start selling players again, it was counter-balanced somewhat by the loss of PL income.

And a GK, and if Fernandes goes we’ll need another CM. Plus we probably want to shift Aribo, Edozie, ABK, Sugawara, Smallbone and maybe Taylor (or maybe not depending on Wellingtons injury).

I think we could do with a CM even if Matty stays as we don't have much depth there really assuming Smallbone and Aribo go.

Ings and Redmond currently training with Sheffield Utd, with both potentially signing short term deals?

I imagine Redmond and particularly Ings would want big wages for the championship. Haven’t watched Redmond for years so no idea what level he is capable of these days but Ings is still a very good player when fit.

Redmond barely kicked a ball during his two years at Burnley, which doesn't bode well. He might not be ancient, but it would hardly scream "ambition" by Sheff Utd.
