It’s not like we can sign a couple central midfielders like Bistrović on free transfers either. Acun ****ed us and the coach with this by acting like a spiv.
Said earlier GLP he was taking the **** in parts he was that far ahead of everyone else...Cantwell was the best player on the pitch, by some distance.
Terrible performance from everyone involved.
Is crooks after the international break? We do seem thin all of a sudden. It’s not like we can sign a couple central midfielders like Bistrović on free transfers either. Acun ****ed us and the coach with this by acting like a spiv.
Can anyone recommend a good lawyer?First game of the season for me.
Looking forward to it.
Even the most cynical buggers I know seemed to enjoy the first home game!
Come on City!

FFS he's 18, give him a break. No one is saying he's the finished article.
I think a number of players have possibly played whilst effected by this bug? Several players below par, and not McCarthy.I hope they were all ill or that was seriously worrying. We need someone to partner Lundstram, Slater in a holding role is like starting with 10 these days.
Cantwell is a cheating diving ****. The referee killed any chance of the game being played competitively.Cantwell was the best player on the pitch, by some distance.
Terrible performance from everyone involved.
Many thanks...pop it on holiday thread so that it benefits others who might be interested. I was thinking Madeira but feel Cabo Verde must be just as interesting and winter-proof. It just isn't as easy to gauge without some real on the ground information. Really appreciate this. It's been great. I'll drop you a DM or put it on the holiday thread.![]()
It's true we are short of depths, at least now with Ajayi, Famewo, Hughes, Coyle, Crooks out. Our **** luck continues unabaited. And Belloumi, Millar and Matazo still out (yes, I know re Belloumi!!). Have even half of those back available and it looks a lot different.I honestly don’t know what Jakirović could’ve done differently today to at least get a point. Start Ashbee, who is more physical, instead of McCarthy maybe? McCarthy’s been more impressive in pre-season though.
This squad has nowhere near the depth needed for a 46-game season. We can say we’ve had a good window given the circumstances but we’re still incredibly light. We had one central midfielder on the bench today and it was Shehu, an under-21 player. Puerta and Laalaoui, if registered, would be in the squad. We can complain about Slater being Slater but there’s **** all else available.
Hadžiahmetović would be a good signing but that’s one player. I still think we’d need him plus another for depth and we’re operating on a strict wage cap imposed by the EFL. I struggle to see how the fee restriction is a ‘blessing in disguise’ because we can’t overspend but it’s a mess of our own making and totally avoidable.
Acun Out.
I thought they'd said concussion? Also somebody posted, mischievously I hope, that he was for the off. If that were the case and the squad know this it could explain today's ****ty performance.Jak said illness.
Depends what you are looking for. If it's mainly a beach holiday then Cape Verde. If you want climate plus stunning scenery, great walks, history, culture, sights, etc then Madeira is a gem. Hopefully slater doesn’t start another game for us, he’s absolutely dog ****. No one had a good game but he still stood out as the weak link. We’re so much weaker when he’s in the team.

But there were still options.
I wouldn't have started with McCarthy at CB. Too much too soon. Then, it was crystal clear it wasn't working yet he didn't make needed changes at HT.
He has Williams sat on the bench. He could could have gone RB, with Drameh CB. Or to a back 3. McCarthy either off or to DCM where he looks a bit more comfortable and where we were getting bumfucked. Or put Williams in there. Akintola on earlier with Gelhardt central. Palmer to drop back deeper. There's all sorts of combination changes he could have made, important point ... when it was so obvious it wasn't working at CB, in midfield, in service to attack, bit instead he did nothing and bang, 3-0 down. Even then we huffed and puffed but didn't get a grip on the game, with eventual changes coming far too late.
I guess it's a learning process for him (and his assistants) too, but I was expecting better from him.
All that said, hopefully we get this DM in quick, and maybe 1 or 2 more if we can move Furlong and 1 or 2 other fringe players out on loan or whatever.
Any truth to the Hughes sale rumours or is it people putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5?
