Should we fail to secure the signature of a recognised striker i'd be tempted to put Big Joe upfront for a number of reasons I shall list below:- 1. Anthony Gordon is not a striker and is best played out on the left 2. Jacob Ramsey can come in across the midfield 3 along with Bruno and Tonali with Gordon, Big Joe and Elanga in front of them. 3. It gets Big Joe out of that midfield melting pot where he's sure to pick up a 2nd yellow in two games, everybody is gonna be fired up for this one and the last thing we need is going down to 10 men. 4. I'd quite like to see Big Joe vs VVD, that's ****ing box office baby !!! Joking aside, there are worse ideas (persisting with Gordon up top being one of them). We signed him as a striker and it didn't work out but he's played there before and he can actually score goals, he just needs like 10 chances in order to score one of them but with Gordon/Elanga either side of him and our midfield we can definitely take the game to them. It's gonna be some game like, wonder where Isak's gonna be watching it from.
100% - think he has played the most top flight games as a striker in the squad and decent in the air. He struggled when he arrived but he was young, lanky and getting up to speed in the epl. Hes now older, built like a brick **** house and understands the league. As you say him v VVD would be a class battle to watch!
Can’t be worse than Gordon, but more importantly would mean Barnes could get back on the bench. Surely anything is worth that?
Yes I see your logic in this and I agree. He can’t do much worse than Gordon and we get Gordon in his natural position.
