Bit of balance on the MOTD analysis. Shearer said he didn’t want to do it and for the neutral it makes sense. Who’s better to analyse Sunderland than an ex manager who beat us last season or an utter disaster of a caretaker manager who get humped by us what must be a decade ago? Seeing Shearer have to say good things would be an utter delight but I can wait for next week when we take another 3 points off Burnley.
There's a saying that celebrities get mentally struck at the age when they became famous.

Rooney came across like a bairn performing his first nativity play.

I found his analysis basic and rushed considering he was manager of Derby, DC United, Plymouth and Birmingham.

I agree that Shearer shouldn't be made to do something he's terrified of but we deserved better.

If Shearer can't provide a proper, sensible, intelligent analysis of any match,no matter who's playing, then he should be sacked!
It's a disgrace by him,he's taking money under false pretences, and it's a disgrace by the BBC. I'm ****ing livid with both!

He can. Like I said before he is paid by the BBC so he will dance to the tune the producers of MOTD want him to.

It's what makes KLD and KS plan so brilliant. Creating an identity that fits the football club. Yeah we would love skill and eyecatching footy like every fan (we still get some of that btw), but just give it everything and the fans will feed back. Exactly why we've targeted the profiles we have, full of energy and will cover a load of ground. Its going to be really tough but we've given ourselves a chance to compete, I dont think we can ask much more than that for where we are right now.

But he didn't....he told them he wasn't going to comment....and they let him get away with it...Rooney took it. ****ing clowns!
I haven’t watched it so only going by third hand accounts. But these shows would be heavily scripted, I’m sure of that. By saying something that would rile up supporters of his teams arch rivals then it gets talked about online and that gets clicks.
I could also be talking utter ****e because I don’t know a thing, which is equally as likely :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Well,Mark Chapman did say in the build up to it that Mary was lined up to talk about West Ham....so I agree with you that part was scripted...but,because any analysis of West Ham would have produced positives for us in the way we capitalised on their weaknesses....that part of the show was pulled, and we were left with Rooney.
In my opinion, a disgrace by the BBC.....as if we needed any more!

Hopefully we wipe any chance of a smile off his ugly fooking pyat plenty times this season. Pìss eyed potato heeded bollock.
Hope so mate.....I'd love to see him squirm at any success we may have. However,I'm hoping loads of messages to the BBC will persuade them to sack him,and hopefully we'll never see his biased mug again.

Rooney is like a stand-in best man who doesn't really know the bride, or her family, and is reading off the notes from the original best man.

It's absolutely ridiculous to pay someone so much for doing such a poor job.

He knows all the correct terms but gets tongue tied and really shouldn't be put in that situation ...

... he's like the Harold Shipman of football under caution <laugh>

*edit - the noise when Mayenda's goal goes in wow!

The whole thing is class as usual, but Diarra and Sadiki were absolutely buzzing coming off that pitch. Sadiki singing "Wise men say" with the crowd as he's going down the tunnel.

I think we've signed some great characters this summer.

And, in the meantime, the West Ham players are at war with each other and disrespecting the manager.

(According to a mate who knew Karen Brady at Birmingham.)

Was it scripted or is Shearer a wet wipe? Too close to call for me. I'll wait and see what happens next week. He can't go on like that forever.

They'd save millions by sacking the pair of them and hiring commentators who aren't trading on their glory days.
