What a breath of fresh air football so far is under this gaffer, very little continuous sideways passing going nowhere. For the first time as far as I can remember, we look threatening every time we go forward.

Lundstram was a joy to watch, Crook's, Drameh and Giles look players reborn, Crook's looks fitter and more mobile than last season.

Palmer seems to be flourishing under Sergej, finally a manager that is playing to player strengths. I just wonder if we might see Slater start in for away games and Palmer mainly home fixtures?

McBurnie and Gelhardt look like a pair that will feed off each other, Ndala had a good game and hats off to Kamara who looks on his way out, but helped create the winning goal. Akintola had a promising cameo, he looks to have something about him.

There is a lot to like about this team, as long as we can stay reasonably clear of major injuries, we hopefully will have a good season.

Not sure If it’s been mentioned but who/when did we decide to swap ends and play towards the north stand in the second half?

Don't teams toss a coin before a match to decide? Does it particularly matter?
Never said it mattered said, I was just asking.
We normally warm up at the south stand end and start that way, but we changed ends.

in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter Syd but then 99.9% of the things you split hairs over, don’t matter either

You're one of a number of people who have asked about it. My response was a general response to the overall conversation.

Does anyone else think burnsey sounded ill today, I heard he hasn’t been well of late.
He said something last week about having had a difficult summer, fingers crossed it's nothing too serious.
Hasn’t Ollie got a great first time touch !!
I suppose we shouldn't get too carried away after 2 games, but he looks like the best striker since Hernandez. Won't get as many goals, but might well get more goal involvements (and more bookings).

Selling kamara would be ridiculous
He was great and put in a massive defensive shift
And quality flick to giles for the goal

Ndala will improve game on game
Hes still raw

Mcburnie is just quality

I suppose finances might dictate we have to sell Kamara? I'd be keeping him if possible. Fair play to the lad - I thought his attitude was spot on when he came on yesterday - even if he knew it might be his last appearance for the club.

IF he does go, I don't think it's to do with finances at all.
I don't think he's ever been that settled here, and I'm not convinced that he's SJ's type of player.

Does anyone else think burnsey sounded ill today, I heard he hasn’t been well of late. I’ve sat in the same studio as him and to be honest hearing him today I felt a little concerned for his health. Mind you the mic fook ups didn’t help..sound guys need to get their act together…

Heard him a few days back and that's what I thought too, so I don't think it's to do with the mics / sound today.
He's been missing for many months, including from the 1904 podcasts. Good that he's back at least ... but he doesn't sound right and nobody seems to be saying what's been (or is still) wrong.

Why should anyone say whats been or is wrong with him, it's absolutely nobody's business but his

and I didn't say anyone should.
The point was that when nobody is saying what's wrong, it usually means it's been (or still is) something serious.
Like RTR says, for all his quirks, I like Burnsey and think he's been very good for the club and City, and I wish him nothing but the best.

They do a toss but the winner of that can choose to kick off or to pick ends, so the home team tends to play from the same end most games. It seems that we deliberately did everything including warming up the other way around, so we appear to have made a conscious decision to swap it over, perhaps for psychological reasons but also the reasons other people have mentioned like not giving the away team chance to rally with their fans ahead of the game, and not letting them attack their end in the second half. I think there's been a good case for it for a while.

As for whether it matters, we can't know whether it made a difference but it mattered to me. We hardly ever scored at the North stand end last season and it made having a membership in there a bit miserable. Goals at the far end are often hard to see and you end up sort of gradually realising we've scored rather than having that joy of seeing the ball crash into the net. Yesterday's winner was a very different feeling!
