Visions of 70/71 all over again? Fresh from beating top of the league and unbeaten at home Sheff Utd on the Tuesday in the Battle of Bramall Lane in front of a full house 40,000+, then over 39,000 at Boothferry Park on the Saturday to see us hammer Oxford with Ron Atkinson lining up at centre half for them and his brother at full back.......you know the rest, one nil Oxford.
Hope it's not the case on Sunday. I'd take a home win, last minute own goal would do for me.
Vern is the glory hole, Brady. Interested?pm Vern.

Give em Super Daves email or x accountPoor ****ers on the Oxford board have a link to the Bazz article for our team news.
I looked on a Bags site...800 is the estimate. How many away are coming, 1500 or so would put us at a near maximum wouldn’t it….. gonna be a brilliant day… hopefully!!!!
Remember it well. Only 26k at the Oxford game though I think.Visions of 70/71 all over again? Sure someone will be along any minute after checking Wikipedia to put us right. I post from memory and that game was only 55 years ago after all, always remembered it as a huge disappointment at the time especially after the heroics at Bramall Lane. Someone has already posted that we only won two more games after that. Remember Terry Neill missing a penalty in one game and getting sent off in another. Also us hammering Orient at home about 5-2? I do know the disappointment hung around until the last home game of that season when the crowd dropped to less than 12,000 from a seasonal average of over 21,000 and a high of 39,000 which I always thought was for that Oxford game, could be wrong, it has been known.Remember it well. Your memory is far better than mine, though I very seldom missed a home game back in those days.Sure someone will be along any minute after checking Wikipedia to put us right. Sounds a bit better than ours, which used to be Twydales in Driff.Battle of Bramall Lane
I was there on a school trip. Fleet of coaches (more than one anyway) outside Schultz. We all piled on at end of school day.
I remember someone had a crate of oranges and handed them out, easily smuggled into the ground, no sniffer dogs or searches, and all hailed down onto Ian Mckechnie when he ran towards the goal. Knighton was fired up for that one.
If Carling did school trips.......
As Cityzen mentioned, the Oxford attendance was the highest of the season apart from the Stoke FA Cup game, maybe that's the one you're thinking of. Around 40,000 there that day.Sure someone will be along any minute after checking Wikipedia to put us right.
