As the wages weren't actually late just not on the usual date I don't think the EFL will care or be able to use that as a reason for sanctions

You’re right but why did it happen in the first place? If the club had decent liquidity, it would have funds available in the club’s UK-based account to pay the player salaries on the usual date. The official line by Acun and the club is that there was a delay in transferring money from an overseas account into the club’s account to pay players’ salaries.

That explicitly means the club has poor liquidity and cannot cover short-term, monthly obligations without regular transfers from overseas accounts. All healthy businesses should have cash reserves as a contingency to cover shortfalls.

Christ guys haven’t you been over this every day for the last month? You can guess , surmise be ITK all you like we are where we are whether it’s Acuns fault or not , if we all hold hands and make a wish it will all go away.
Sadly,I don't think some of us will be invited to the hold each others hands event...:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Gutted,Glasgow.

its a proper scummy thing thats slowly creeped in
prem teams asking for £1m+ for short loans for their young players

they should be wanting the best for them, playing as much as possible in mens football

but instead, they will leave them, stuck in limbo, sometimes not even going on loan stuck in u21 all season if the loan fees not met..
If you owned a Rolls Royce and someone came along that couldn't afford to buy it but asked to borrow it for a year would you not see the benefit in charging them a fee for using it for a year as well as making sure they pay for the petrol and insurance?

It's business. Football is a business.

a rolls royce keeps more value sat in a garage doing nothing

a player gets more value when they play

bad analogy

It wasn't just Barry, we were late on other payments too both before and after Barry. Coupled with a number of suppliers not being paid and late payment of wages.

If it was just Barry then we'd have only been under one embargo.

Also Acun himself has accepted culpability for delays in transferring funds from Acun Medya to the club to cover shortfalls.

Then there's the fact we took a hit on the Philogene and Greaves fee to get the cash up front - with over 20m in outstanding fee commitments...

It all adds up to a lot more than an admin error by a minion.

There are folk within the club and within businesses waiting for payment sounding the alarm on this well before it hit the press. I heard rumblings before the last international break and others on here knew well before I did.

You just chose and continue to choose not to believe it.
Do you know more than has been reported? The only other player fee I've seen mentioned was Fin Burn, and that was after Barry. I've not seen anything else reported to say that we've been late to pay other clubs for our transfer obligations, although there were *rumours* that maybe we were late for Joseph.

I've also heard rumours that we haven't been paying other suppliers, but again, I've not seen anyone actually come forward as one of those suppliers.

We also know that one month the players were paid in the acceptable period, but a couple of days later than their usual payday.

Isn't that the point / problem?!

Well, that plus him (or more likely someone under him) making school boy errors with the timing of repaying Villa or at least thinking their side agreement was fine? Unless of course you don't believe anything that's been said.

p.s. not looking for arguments and insults. Hoping for adult discussion.
Good luck with that on here.

A family member who works as an exec for one of these companies, asked me to respect corporate confidentiality, but they told me the state of affairs a few months ago, and that a number of others were/had been in the same position and that it wasn't the first time.

And the Barry fee tipped the total days late over 30 days. An installment for Joseph had already been late as part of that tally. Then there was Burns.
