I actually don’t think in this game we’ll be that bad. Pre season is an odd one rarely reflecting how a team gets on. Everyone’s been up and down as well - Man U fans making the fatal mistake of believing they’re going to challenge because they sneak a couple of results in the US, they’ve got too many problems have barely shifted any of this “bomb squad” and have to somehow hope a brand new front three all connect and work out amorims system. Liverpool have more to bed in, Gyokeres will probably end up second fiddle to Havertz and Chelsea have to work out who of their squad of 54 is better, which takes time. We - striker aside - are very settled and whilst we needed a much better summer it wasn’t to be. Villa have been just as hamstrung by unlawful bullshit so aren’t to be feared. Notice Watkins and Martinez were both supposed to be surplus but are still there so I wonder how happy the Villa camp is?
Be interesting to see but it wouldn’t surprise me to see a hugely gutsy team siege mentality and win. Similarly we might get a drubbing. Neither result will define the season. That does not, I repeat does not, mean I won’t moan like a bitch if it goes tits up.
