Minimal to no value in the English market. If Hume was English not NI he’d be worth 25-30.

Broadhead going for 10 million and coburn and Conway going for 5 million a piece shows you where the market is.

How's Ipswich getting 37.5m for Omar Hutchinson

goes to show the market for home grown is bonkers.

he wasn’t a stand out last season for me, imagine the fees if the likes of Hume, Ballard, rigg have even half decent seasons

I look at the rumoured fee for dibling as well and whilst he has high potential I didn’t think he was that impressive last year, seemed to have the odd impact game but not much more.

There is the news about the filth getting Wissa. Thought it wouldn't be too long. Good player him.

Dictionary definition of downgrade.

Wissa is a good player but half his strength was Mbuemo being left sided and cutting inside to him.

The rats have no lefty.
They were never going to bring in as someone as good as Isak, I thought they’d have brought in another young striker to develop like they did with Isak.

Wissa is pushing on 30 so he’s not the type.

Drives home the fact we need to produce our own and also look for the best bargains next summer.
We HAVE to keep producing our own. Otherwise we’re gonna get real tight on homegrown players real fast. The value for purchases is clearly abroad (as evidenced by the Hutchinson deal). We need to make damn sure we’re not on the other side of that sort of challenge - or we’ll be dragged into this sort of overpay.

Think they've said a few times that the academy will also be the heart of the club

We have some really talented lads coming through

But he’s been available for games consistently

That's just luck of the timing though. His most recent injury was in April and he's still dealing with it now I believe. Been out injured for 5 months+ twice in the last 3 years with a recurring muscle injury... That's cause for concern, no doubt about it at all. If it recurs mid-season there's a good chance we don't see him again for the rest of the year.

Main issue for me is the fact we're (potentially) signing him whilst he's still recovering... How many players did we sign last season who were "a couple of weeks away" only to have a setback and miss months? Abdullahi, Samed, Danns... Not exactly a glowing list of success stories there lol.

Obviously this is a bit different as the lad's a talent and clearly the club deem him worth the risk. But make no mistake, it is a risk.

The quality of our academy fills me with a lot of hope that this can continue to be achieved mate. Ogunsuyi (x2), Geragusian, Neill and Scott (among others) look good prospects
