Keepers need to work with the coach and the back four in training and know for sure who takes who in the event of a situation.like corners and set pieces. On top of that there is correct distribution from a possession point of view and who will usually be the first defender to clear at near post or the back stick. Then he’s made aware of who is usually the first option playing out from the back and what to expect if that scenario changes like it did last night.
Shot stopping is only part of the equation.

I’m not talking about his distribution in possession. I’m talking about his shot-stopping and it was woeful. He could’ve done better for the second goal and he has poor reactions. He didn’t even dive for one of the penalties and it wasn’t even an amazing penalty.

I said imo it's more than just his final ball, it's his overall (lack of) quality and composure.

He often does something good to get into promising positions, then ****s up the simple pass or finish when he's done the hard work. That's what I was specifically referring to, but frankly it's splitting hairs. It does come down to overall quality ultimately.
TBF to him on that pen, his weight was all going the opposite way and it would have been impossible for him to shift his weight enough to be able to dive for it.
Don't think the keeper moved for one of ours either. But Phillips did look rusty for me.
I once heard a top keeper say that the keeper decide if he came for crosses like those or decided his backs would almost as a definitive ‘policy’ ?
