Whilst it is only natural for us to want this to be resolved and know one way or another I think its fair to say that due to the fantastic recruitment this embargo / restriction has almost being nullified for the time being, Would certainly be nice to know what is going on with Puerta and maybe we sign Frigan but ultimately we are in a good place even if we don't get the result we want.
I don’t think the embargo is going to make much difference. Sensibly we have established a decent squad under the fee restriction. If it remains we maybe bring in Collyer (with Williams and Akintola announced as well). If it’s lifted we will probably do the same business but bring Frigan in and then perhaps offload one or more of Kamara, Palmer, Joseph (loan) to help with the fee. if its reduced until January Acun may do some jiggery pokery loan deal for Frigan with us buying in January for a set fee. Kamara etc may then also go in the next window too.
It's the Puerta and Laalaoui situations that I'm most bothered about. It's doing my head in no one being able to say what's actually going on with them. Hopefully if the fee restriction is suspended then we'll see some clarity on those.
Isn't is pretty simple and clear already? Isn't it just that we signed them but 'just' not able to register them to actually play? What annoys me about the situation is that it's a ridiculous state of affairs that does nobody any favours (the club, the players, the fans).
It's a nonsense that the embargo could in essence be retrospectively applied. Then again I suspect none of us know the precise background.
I suspect the EFL rules are such that they technically cannot be registered due to when the restrictions were applied, and allowing us to register them could potentially leave them open to legal challenges or at least headaches from our rival clubs.
Is it not a possibility that the appeal outcome may involve a solution for the players left in limbo?
100% They'll either be in a position for their player registration to be transferred to us or they will have them retain by the existing clubs. I think this is why we are often annoyed by the long delays in announcing players. I think we are waiting for the player registrations transfer to be confirmed. I think we rushed the announcements this time to show we were getting business done. We've been left with egg on our faces.
I don't think it's clear. The club aren't talking about it at all. Neither are the league. It's been reported that they can't play and that's obviously the case but it's never been officially stated. The reports say that Puerta is somehow not even our player even though he's been training with us for weeks, presumably employed by us and being paid by us, with us having paid or committed to pay his previous club for him. It's been reported that Puerta remains a Leverkusen player even though that seems impossible. We've pieced together our version of things that it's maybe just the registration that's not happened and therefore they can't play even though they are employed by the club, which makes more sense than any other explanation, but it hasn't been reported anywhere that I've seen.
I'm of the opinion that if Leverkusen believe there are bids from Spain in the 6/7 million euro range, they will be doing all they can to get him back..
I'm thinking that we couldn't reasonably have known about the fee restriction when those deals were agreed. So maybe as part of any reduction of the punishment they may allow the registration of those players as long as we continue to work to the business plan agreed with the EFL - which appears to include the sale of Puerta. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but would appear to be a rational solution to the problem.
