I can’t get my head around the Puerta situation. The EFL are trying to protect the financial future of our club by putting us under a fee restriction. Yet at the same time, allow us to pay £20k/week (complete guess) for a player they may turn around and say isn’t ours. Not including anything we’ve paid to Leverkusen.
He can be our player and still not be allowed to play, just as Zambrano wasn't able to play last season, despite being our player. It's one thing to be employed by a club, it's another to be allowed to play in an EFL competition. Obviously, one's a doping ban and the other's a inability to register, but the outcome is the same. I agree it's stupid, the deal was done before the embargo and not allowing us to play him (or sell him) puts even more strain on the finances that the EFL are currently supposed to be protecting.
Yeah, Puerta is a player that'll be better with better players, I like Slater, but he has a lower ceiling - we have three first choice CM all unable to play, with a couple back we have a great midfield
Didn't Simons even manage 2? Just don't see the appeal in Puerta. He's not awful but don't think we'd miss him one bit
This is my point, OLM. Even if the fee restriction stands and we can’t register Puerta and Laalaoui, they’re still our players and we’re well within our rights to sell or loan them out this summer. The EFL can’t actually stop us from selling them so I find the reporting about it from Baz confusing. Getting them both registered would be great as it stops Puerta’s value depreciating and we can actually use them but if not, at least we can try to break even on Puerta and loan Laalaoui to Maribor or something.
https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/spo...major-charlie-hughes-transfer-update-10405235 Coventry's first bid for Hughes was £4 million, laughable. Stinks of them trying to unsettle him before Saturday.
The best response to Coventry should have been... Cov: look we're interested in Charlie Hughes City: you seriously cannot afford him... goodbye...
For me he perfectly plugs the hole in midfield. Him beside Lundstram with Gelhardt ahead feels like a perfect blend to me.
I disagree that he didn't impact a game. Drove forward and played some great through balls that led to goals away at Bristol City and home to Plymouth if my memory serves me correctly. We don't have anyone else who could've done that for us from CM.
Best player last season, especially towards the end, though there wasn't a lot of competition...Highly gifted, but dodgy temperament. Guess that's the South American pedigree you have to take into account.
I not sure they are our players though. We may well have signed contracts with them and with the selling clubs but the point at which the player becomes the your player is when the registration is transferred from the selling club to the buying club. The EFL won't let us move that registration to us at the moment so I think they still sit with their former clubs. I'm in no way ITK on this topic I'm just reading up on it as I agree is seems absurd the limbo we are stuck in.
4m from Cov won’t unsettle him one bit. Complete none issue that I imagine you could even frame it as insulting to him.
