Not having Russell Martin as their manager.

We probably weren’t even on that list til last season if it’s mainly based on goals given away and late goals conceded

That's fair. Guess it depends how you want to view it. We've had high highs and low lows. Other clubs have just been meh meh and more meh plodding along doing nothing. I would argue our lows have been hard to beat though. With the record thrashing TWICE, one awful season getting relegated on 25 points and somehow an even worse one breaking a lot of records on the way to 12 points.

I still think that Sport Republic, while making some catastrophic recruitment errors, have put us in a sound financial position, unlike the previous owner.

Think back to the Rupert Lowe years, would you rather that **** was still in charge of our club?

Well Lowe did bring a world cup winning manager in as a performance director admittedly from the wrong sport .<laugh>

Too be fair though they did have to use a lot of youth players with hardly any money to spend.

Nah, Lowe came back that summer and proceeded with the appointments, having ousted (i think) Leon Crouch.

It was a very random decision, however I think it was just way too soon and showed the development of rugby compared to football. I’m sure there was an interview with a coach there at the time on Twitter, the training ground guru or whatever his name is. Some of the things he talked about back then are much more common now; things like a free kick specialist back then sent people bananas with rage, whereas now, they are much more common place. I think the coach said something like, he just asked “why” all the time. Rugby as a sport was much better at questioning itself, whereas football was not there yet by a long shot.

But at the time, we needed him like a hole in the b*llock…. There were much more pressing issues….!!

No I think that’s right. Memory playing tricks on me!

Edit: I think it was Michael Wilde who hired them.

It was I think, but Leon Crouch ended up paying the players out of his own pocket.

Yeah that was a horrible time. I was very vocal then & had a number of scathing articles published in the Echo (obviously before these type vehicles were around).

A lot of us were very vocal on the old BBC 606 forum, after which this forum was named!

Come on mate! A yardstick of "well at least we aren't going bust" is exactly why SR have totally gotten away with their complete mismanagement of the club. Besides I can fully see them totally ****ing us in the likely event that we stay in the Championship a couple of years.

I do wonder what people think makes the 'perfect' owner?

Not defending SR here as they have made and still makes mistakes, but sometimes that is just business.

I have watched all the 'Welcome to Wrexham' series and also the 'Brady and the Blues' to contrast two different owners.

Tom Brady to me comes across as an arrogant prick who thinks his (albeit ultimate high level) sporting achievements make him qualified to go to the dressing room and give the team a pep talk. The other thing I noticed about the Birmingham owners (as well as the almighty **** up of getting relegated first season), was the arrogance that they are the best and how it is all about them, not the club or the city or the people.

Contrast that with Wrexham, and like or hate the circus that comes with it, what they have done not only for the club, but the people and the town is astonishing. They seem to actually care about the people. Yes they want to do well and get success, but they surround themselves with people who should know how to help and listen to them. It is not me, me, me, I am the greatest NFL quarterback ever so I know how to run a football team. They have invested a lot, but in the right places. The stadium was in need of modernisation and they have done it, the team has been organically grown and they have got the people onside.

I would like owners more like them, rather than Birmingham's, but you know what, SR and Dragan aren't that bad.

It's also worth pointing out that while the results on the pitch have been, well, a disaster quite frankly, their plans to develop the stadium and the surrounding area are very exciting. In fact their long term vision full stop is exciting. OK, we/they have hit some serious bumps in the road but now we've got Spors and Still in, I'm optimistic they've finally got it right.

Even the positives with Sport Republic are all about what might happen.

    Ground development- future
    Surrounding area development- future
Teenage players from Man City- for the future
Will Still- prospects of him doing well in the future

Everything they do or say sounds good but we're yet to see it. It's all nonsense grand plans to keep ST sales up after the worst football we've seen in the clubs entire history.

So let's look at what they have achieved

-Multiple managers, all really ****ing ****.
    -Back to Back PL relegations
-Selling the club silver as soon as possible
    -Very very poor recruitment
-The worst points in our clubs history
-Spending **** all the last 2 transfer windows.

Yes they're not Chansiri, but that doesn't make them even average owners either. They're incredibly poor but our fans are too polite to do anything about it

Edit- what has Spors achieved exactly? 2 German 2nd division players? What would we do without him <laugh>
