Agreed.... but Cathal McCarthy might be CB by then..I agree with most of that but don't think he'll be here in 3 years , we'll struggle to hold on to him

Considering where we started (after the financial cock-ups and punishment came to light), it's been an excellent window so far. It is shaping up to be a good, competitive, squad but I do worry that the midfield might be a bit lightweight without the ball. I'd like to see a proper, experienced, no. 6 in there to screen the defence. I think I'm the first person to mention that in the last couple of seasons so I'm wondering if there's some kind of prize for football insight?

I hope McCarthy gets a chance this season. If not starting then coming on to keep hold of a lead (hopefully). I completely agree with you point and I've no idea why people are pulling you up on it.
Which ever way you look at it the Mason turned out to be a disastrous (record) transfer.
That implies no blame on the player, the club or anyone also. A freak accident which cost us our most expensive ever player after only 16 games.
I don’t think anyone is pulling anyone up. It’s a discussion board and replies to comments.
Not exactly stirring any pot, he’s a very good player any one can see that so no surprise a few are looking at him. In my humble opinion see what happens at the end of this season, played well and there will be some serious bids from top teams in for him, **** off with your 12mil….
Have we really altered the exit so don't get the mass exodus pitch side? I missed that. If true, that's very good news as something I've disliked for years.
Sticky Ricky?!
The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Couple of the usual have tried to pile on without bothering to read the context. Again.
We've historically undervalued our players compared with similar quality players at so-called 'bigger' clubs. I remember the papers creaming themselves over Jack Clarke after playing a dozen games with Leeds (he ended up scoring two goals all season) and was sold to Spurs for £10 million. Meanwhile Bowen was quietly banging in a goal every other game for us with barely a murmur for over three years. Almost like they couldn't quite believe how good he was because it was only Hull City.Hughes is streets ahead of Greaves in my opinion and for the club to say its north of 10 shows how little we value our players. (having said that that could be over £20m who knows) in 3 years Hughes could genuinely be worth £30m OR MORE...
Waiting on Mattazo...Zambrano.... the it will be an immense midfield...Considering where we started (after the financial cock-ups and punishment came to light), it's been an excellent window so far. For people saying can we have an embargo every window etc, I don't think our targets have actually changed that much in reality, other than potentially Frigan and possibly Famewo. I imagine we'd have been in for Ajayi, McBurnie and Lundstram regardless. I think the fact things are going quite well is a lot more down to having better staff now in place. I'm specifically referring to Dublin here and also to Jakirovic who in preseason seems to be getting the new signings and some of our 'write-offs' performing as we'd always hoped they would have done. It feels more like we've been working around the embargo rather than completely changing direction as a result of it.
No worries!I apologise to you,I must have picked you up wrong ...Sorry.
