Baz's opinion article today stated that we have an overall wage cap rather than a player specific one.

If that's the case, Omur's and Burstow's wages (rumoured to be up to £50k p/w) being freed up could have allowed McBurnie to get his £40k a week without us going over?
Which is still ****ing mental that we could be looking to do that.

Yes, however if we'd spent £3m (pre restriction of course) on McBurnie on wages of £20k p/w no one would have batted an eyelid, in fact it would have been lauded as great business.

Work that down on a 3 year contract with no transfer fee and it costs the same as him being on £40k p/w.

We won't hold him long enough to realise his full potential financially, especially if Illicali is here.

I think it's very early to be calling a fairly raw kid our biggest ever transfer fee but each to their own:emoticon-0148-yes:
He is a gun, you can see it a mile off and there are many in the game who feel the same not least our most recently departed manager apparently.
You're right he may go sooner than he realises his full value but if we can hold him and develop him he is going to be a big star and that comes with a price tag.

A service station near Goole. :emoticon-0138-think

Saw my one and only real life glory hole in the toilets there before the refurbishment. Never saw it being used mind you, just the hole which gave me enough to let.my imagination go to work for the remaining 30 mins of my journey home that night.

I can't see Burstow being a particularly big earner and Bolton won't be able to afford to pay him much either.

Just a question on Ajayi, maybe I'm going senile but wasn't Puerta confirmed before he signed, not sure about Laalaoui (likely spelt incorrectly) in which case WTF is going on...surely this the Sporting Director or Hodges remit...

It isn't rocket science.

We could register Ajayi and Philips because they didn't involve a fee.

The other two did involve a fee and couldn't be registered until July 1st. At which time we were under the fee restriction.

Dunno what you expect Hodge or Dublin to do about that

Can’t just be me who isn’t that thrilled about Lundstram or McBurnie? Yeah, they’re ’proven’ players at this level but probably on massive wages and the way it has been reported suggests the club is on a general salary cap, meaning we’ve been throwing as much stuff overboard to make room without the ship sinking. That’s why we’ve cut the squad to the bone and left ourselves short, just so Acun can make high profile signings on daft wages AGAIN.

There’s no way we are paying them daft wages though. The EFL won’t let us

At this point, I'd be pleased if they signed some of the people I play 5's with, just to make sure the bench doesnt get cold
