Liverpool apparently had bid accepted for Will Wright - highly regarded 17 year old from Salford. Were linked few weeks ago, then talk of Arsenal having bid accepted Looks like up to him to decide where to go
He wasn't "messing around". The lad is 17 years old and has to make the right decision on where he will get game time and exposure to other clubs if things don't work out.
If we have Isak, Ekitike, Salah, and Wirtz do we need any defenders? Just go back to the Brendan Rodgers days of all attack and not worrying about petty things like defending.
I'm surprised at the Diaz move, tbh. Being a Liverpool fan I obviously think we should be the ultimate destination of any player, but even without my LFC patented red-tinted goggles I don't see Bayern, and a future in the German league, as a step up.
More money. Pretty well reported that he’s been wanting a pay rise from us for last couple years - seems lfc and Diaz camp are far apart and at his age, this is last chance to get a big jump - his next contract if he stayed here he would have been 31 so not getting anything huge* *in regards to football wages, not common sense wages.
Lots of variables involved though, isn’t there. Diaz did nothing wrong for me and I didn’t want to lose him. Everyone is different I guess. Different things are important to people, rich or poor. We do not know what motivates Diaz and why. We think that it is money but we don’t know why. So for him, his final destination may be less important than his earning potential or his ego may not be able to accept that some will earn much more than him. We also don’t know the clubs position. Why we see him surplus to requirements. Did we force this decision? anyway, he’s gone….whos in next?
The thing is, I'm not so cynical as to believe that absolutely everyone is motivated purely by greed. In fact, I know for certain that isn't true, so I like to give the benefit of the doubt to others that they may have other reasons before I settle on the conclusion that it is just the money talking. Agents are obviously money-driven - it's the prime reason for their existence - but players themselves may have other considerations contributing to their decisions. If I had been a gifted footballer I would have wanted to prove myself at the highest level I could achieve, not kid myself into thinking that money equals value.
Always feel Especislly when it comes to a lot of South Americans who grew up in poverty and probably have large families many of which still struggle that money plays much more significant role and can’t fault them for that as allows them to do so much good for their family and their local area compared to John smith that grew up in Bedfordshire etc. Obviously big generalisation, but at same time Diaz is going to Bayern. Prob only behind Barca and Madrid when it comes to prestige so not like he’s throwing his career away?
He got a big pay day. That's what he was after. He has "won" England in his mind and if off for an easy life in a lesser league at age 28 for a triple your wage kind of deal. It's really that simple. It didn't matter where he was going he was looking for that deal for nearly 2 seasons
Hard to argue that bayern doesn't equate with trophies for a player. They walk the league most seasons bar the odd blip. Good move for Diaz and he leaves on amicable terms which is fine as his sale will allow reinvestment. Its a step up for Diaz as he definitely has less competition for his place there and likely to get hands on more trophies due to the nature of bundesliga .
Tbh, I don't think it really matters. I think everyone knows we're in a very good position and have money to spend anyway
He will be benched as soon as musiala is fit. That kid is the future for them. But in any event diaz got his big pay day.and we are going to move on rapidly.
I think he was hoping for Barca and when that didn’t happen, Bayern became the option. Liverpool were not going to pay more salary and as you say, he was looking for a better option for himself for a while. He served us well, we have gotten a good price for him given his age
