Results don’t matter but how do you think WBA fans think about losing 4-2 at home to Lincoln. An injury time goal also made the score line respectable.
I recall City (old 2nd Div.) beating Coventry (old 1st Div.) 4-1 in a preseason friendly. Loads talked City up as potential promotion candidates...We got relegated. Coventry finished top 10 in what is now the Premier League...Which emphasises the point that friendless ain't worth getting excited about.

I do agree. It’s not a great indicator but in our case I think it’s been good to build up a bit of confidence in themselves and the new gaffer.

Goes direct to Oddschecker and sees Lincoln are best price 50/1...
Just seen Lincoln's first goal...Hell of a freaky one....Incoming corner swerves in, hits the far post, comes back and hits someone standing on the line on the noggin and flies into the net.

I agree. It's great winning games of football...Kind of becomes a habit...

Friendlies are useful to build up match fitness but, especially when you have a new manager, it's good to see how the players are working in the new manager's preferred systems.

I got home safe, hungry because of the queue at the ground & the fact Manchester was hammered because of the weather & then the cricket kicked out, so decided to go home.

Overall, forgettable game, there were a few highlights for me, I’m hopeful that Abu steps up & shuts up the haters, I just don’t see him having that mentality to do so.
Hopefully Phillips doesn’t need to be used, but I’ll put his early mistake down to nerves.
Giles looked good, in fact the back 4 did.
Midfield looked light, seemed to improve when the kids came on, Crooks is a player I like, hopefully gets some consistency going, I’m not overall convinced of him though.
I wanted Kamara, Palmer & Joseph to play well & make a name for themselves, they didn’t really do it! Palmer did the most out of the 3, he’s got the most talent too!
Second half, we made changes & looked the better side, same as always, start off like that & there won’t be any complaints.
Not sure of all the subs, but I thought 58 Ashbee? 47? Did well in the middle, TSF & Burstow working together was nice to see, what I class as 2 strikers on at the same time.
Saw the ball hit the net, but missed the rest of the move prior.
One to forget, but a win!

I think we may need to get into the habit of playing ugly and grinding out results for a while, possibly the whole season, which we have done for most of the pre season fixtures.

That's what I'm hoping the plan is anyway, as it wasn't a great watch.

Good example was Hateley’s preseason. Good results against higher clubs leading to eagerly awaiting the start of the season, Then we played Mansfield…
