I reckon it will be a collaboration. He’ll get to input and may well suggest but won’t get the decision (obviously)
+6 last year +2.5 +4 -3.9 -0.6 That’s all the data I have one anomaly bad year rest are standard or plus
I’m really happy that we’ve brought in a couple of wingers too, it means ELF will likely stay in the middle where he really shines. He’s drifts in and out of the game when shunted out wide (which is understandable). ELF is such a good player, he reminds me of Steed Malbranque. Little, but difficult to get off the ball and very technical.
That data doesn't really care about the standard of the team, it's purely numbers based upon shot quality. He was in the minus at Arsenal as well.
Surely your coaches job is to notice your players strengths and weaknesses and what they need to work on. would be highly surprised if they did not ask the gk coach what he thought a potential gk signing strengths and weaknesses are
Of course. To suggest he's only there to coach what he's given, without having any opinion on whether he thinks he's any good, is curious to say the least.
Assuming people are using the right data metrics (and I’ve no reason to think they’re not), it stands to reason we won’t be signing Ramsdale if we want to credibly say we are a data based recruitment club. that said, I don’t think we’re anywhere near as data based as we “sold” we would be originally.
Yes I agree that’s not what I meant though I’d be surprised if he says go sign this keeper but he absolutely should be asked / involved in the signing of a goalkeeper based on advice
Can’t get my head around all this data like, I’ll leave it to those at the club to bring in the best options for us. They’ve earned our trust.
Goals prevented is Pickford 6.15 vs 0.14 ramsdale xGoT prevented (the better one) Pickford 6.0 vs -0.2 ramsdale
Tbf it does look like Ramsdale wouldn't make a whole lot of sense but I think the club clearly see something in him if we are talking about him, who's to say we will actually move for him just yet
It's performance increase per pound spent that we should be looking at. The question for SAFC is whether a keeper improves us sufficiently for the money we'd have to spend to get them here. We don't have much choice other than to trust the club, but its super price dependant for Ramsdale. TBH given the high stakes that there are for spending big on a goalkeeper, its a tightrope whichever way we go. Much harder to reverse out of a keeper mistake than almost any other position.
If we sign him it means the club have overlooked the data for whatever reason. There’s no way they won’t have come up with this same metrics themselves. If it’s as clear cut as these metrics mean he’s not very good then we won’t sign him.
