I’ve changed my mind again about Henderson. Sorry :D

We need a midfielder who’s physical. He’s too lightweight and we’re too lightweight. We need a physical ball winner. And I don’t want two more centre mids.

This for me. People always assume what hits the media is the option number.

but Fabrizio says petrovic isn’t close. Our name might’ve just been leaked to raise price, could’ve been a ask the price and thought its not worth it for our opinion

I know, it wasn’t aimed at you, it wasn’t really aimed at discrediting Le Bris either, just making a point for some who want to discredit Farke

It’s madness to wonder who has the better team when squads are nowhere near finished, if you finish 15th and us 16th I’d take that, the harshness of the PL is still fresh in Leeds fans minds

Like I said, we’re very grounded, there is a lot of excitement in here and I feel some are in for a huge shock

Just because we’ve been out the PL 8 years doesn’t mean we are naive and don’t know the battle of it.

We spent 10 years straight there, mismanaged and rudderless.

We are still realistic and still aiming to beat 3 teams as it stands.

We quite rightly have growing faith we can do it.

    **** off :D

we’ve had years of ****e. We’re gonna be excited at a time we’re making exciting signings. Don’t come on the forum of another team and tell them they’re too excited.

I’m pissed off this thread is going to become about Leeds for the next hour as you keep looking for bites from fans on a Sunderland message board. And I can’t even put you on ignore because you’re a mod.

I’m less worried about getting a midfield wardrobe in. My bet/guess is that PL midfields are less about physical strength and stature and more about energy, mobility and bite. I think 4 of our current 5 have that in spades. If we add a 6th who brings calmness, experience and perhaps importantly won’t insist on hoovering up tonnes of minutes, we’ve probably got a half decent balance. If we could add a Lennon Miller or Charlie Gray type into the mix for future development then we’d be laughing I think. We defo need some stature for set pieces but we could get that from two monster centre halves.

Id like to hope both sets of fans know there's much more work that needs to be/will be done. But yeah always people getting a little excited or carried away.

we are really lightweight and it’s a very physical league. I think this is where we are short

In what world is Jordan Henderson lightweight? It's not NFL.

He's held his own physically at this level for over a decade.

Yeah but there’s PL experience and actually performing that’s the point I’m making mate. Rodon probably has about 500 minutes in the PL, 4/5years ago? You look at James in the championship and think he has to be able to do it in the PL because of how good he is in the 2nd tier but he was shocking in the PL. Bogle again, in a terrible Sheffield Utd team and got hammered every week. So I get the point that they have played at that level but I wouldn’t say there’s anything to say they don’t replacing the same as several of ours do. I think if you’re hanging expectations on players who are playing in the second tier because they’re proven to not be good enough to make the step up already you’re in for a shock.

he’s not got the legs any more. He’ll be bypassed easily. I want somebody in that role that dominates

I don’t think we’re lightweight. All of them can put a tackle in, most are mobile and all are press resistant. I don’t think the big bastard defensive midfielder is quite as prevalent these days. Most teams will just pass around a lumbering oaf. Relentless energy will do a better job of providing defensive protection than size and strength imo.

Have you looked at it from the outside looking in, the 5 you have bought, are they PL quality. I’m asking the question, not stating a fact.

I’m not overly impressed with our 4 signings so far but we haven’t broke the bank, we’ve spent wisely and hoping we up the pace.

I’ve not met anyone who’s not a Sunderland fan feeling you’ve massively over spent.

We’ll see soon enough I guess

It’s good we have people in early mind, you must say that. That only gives us more of a chance of starting better of course. Better players with better systems win over time. I’m expecting a struggle, simply because whoever we sign we’re up against established sides most weeks. It’ll be a slog. Like the play offs every week. Hopefully with the same results

Before the transfer window opened. I would have said we were weakest in defence. Only 1 signing there so far. Hopefully we see some defensive reinforcement soon.

Sadiki and Diarra will cover more ground than most of the league.
